Wingspan is a strategy video game based on the board game Wingspan for Windows, macOS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, iOS, Android, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. It released in 2020 to positive critical and commercial reception.

Release

An early digital version of the tabletop game released in January 2019 on the tabletop simulator Tabletopia.[1] It was subsequently released for macOS and Windows via Steam on September 17, 2020, with a port for Nintendo Switch releasing initially in Japan on December 24, 2020,[2] and globally on December 29, 2020.[3] The game was also released the following year in 2021 for Xbox One on June 18,[4] iOS and iPadOS on July 20, 2021,[5] Android on November 9, 2021,[6] and for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in 2024 on October 11.[7]

Reception

The game received "generally favorable" reviews according to review aggregator Metacritic.[9][8] PC Gamer rated the game 9/10, praising the mechanics and illustration positively comparing with the original board game.[10] Gamezebo, however, preferred the original board game.[11] The adaptation was commercially successful, with 125,000 cumulative copies sold across Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and iOS.[12]
