[edit]

I'm thinking of creating a {{KoreanTour player}} template missing ID and not present in Wikidata. on the lines of the others at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Golf/Templates#External_link_templates. This would link through to http://kgt.co.kr/players/profile.aspx?man_code=nnnnnnnn , eg K. J. Choi would be http://kgt.co.kr/players/profile.aspx?man_code=00000190 . The only issue is that pages are in Korean but the "translate to English" in my Chrome browser is helpful, although occasionally obscure (eg height = 신장 is translated as kidney. The page contains a lot of good stuff. eg the second option (결과 = results) gives season by season results.

Full 2020-21 PGA Tour Schedule published

[edit]

Noticed that the PGA Tour have published the full schedule for 2020-21 today [1].

2020 ANA Inspiration

[edit]

I am wondering why no one has updated the details of the field in this LPGA Major after it was released on September 4. I have a link which lists the final field here: https://golfweek.usatoday.com/2020/09/04/ana-inspiration-major-field-105-dinah-shore/ Also the 2019 winner will not be competing in this year's event.

two articles proposed for deletion

[edit]

I recently nominated two articles for deletion. They are List of Swedish professional golfers and List of golf courses designed by Donald Ross. I believe both fail WP:LISTN.

We discussed the first page years ago but I never feel like we came to a strong conclusion about whether to keep it or not. If we could have a robust discussion on the deletion page that would be nice. I believe it is very similar (though not identical to) the List of Canadian winners on the PGA and LPGA Tours that I successfully proposed for deletion a couple years ago. (See the full discussion here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Canadian winners on the PGA and LPGA Tours.) To me, the Swedish page is similarly awash in made-up cross-categorizations with no precedent in the media.

With Ross' page, in the References section they have some sources that reference the courses he designed. But I'm not sure if the sources are reliable. And in general, this just seems like another standalone list - an idea we're trying to get away from.

Any contributions are welcome.

Have reverted the Donald Ross notice, his undeniable contributions to golf course design and adequate sourcing define the page. And who is "we" in "an idea we're trying to get away from" concerning standalone lists? They are fine, encyclopedic, and educational. Randy Kryn (talk) 11:39, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Removed the Swedish notice as well. I don't see how it fails LISTN as that information is compiled in Sweden. SportingFlyer T·C 13:48, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello SportingFlyer,
To me, the List of Swedish professional golfers page this still strikes me as the same idea as the Canadian list that was successfully deleted. Also, the central sources are in the Swedish language and this is an English-language site. Shouldn't all references be in English for en.wikpedia.org?
Thanks,

No, sources can be in any language. SportingFlyer T·C 19:55, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Golf Digest, for the interested. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:16, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Gråbergs Gråa Sång,
Just noticed this - yes they like to write about us. Also see here and here. The later link refers to a discussion on the main talk page from a few years ago: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:List_of_men%27s_major_championships_winning_golfers#Removal_of_yearly_winners.

@Chief disambiguator Yes, I've seen those. Media coverage of WP is one of my interests.[2][3] Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 06:27, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2024 U.S. Senior Women's Open Championship

[edit]

I tried to create the 2024 U.S. Senior Women's Open Championship article but realised that the red link is directed to the U.S. Senior Women's Open "summery" article. If anyone can delete this direction, I can create the 2024 article. The tournament is on its way at the moment. Regards, EEJB (talk) 20:33, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Simply go to https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2024_U.S._Senior_Women%27s_Open&redirect=no and replace the redirect with your text. Tewapack (talk) 21:05, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! EEJB (talk) 18:32, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There is a requested move discussion at Talk:Ernie Johnson Jr.#Requested move 5 August 2024 that may be of interest to members of this WikiProject. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 06:06, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Is the PGA an independent source for an article about a player?

[edit]

See Wikipedia_talk:Main_Page/Errors#Independent_sources, for a discussion about this.

Extending awards parameters in infoboxes

[edit]

Is anybody able to extend the amount of lines included in the parameters in players infoboxes? Currently limited to 10, Jon Rahm has now surpassed that amount so would be helpful if we could more to the parameters. Jimmymci234 (talk) 09:43, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's intentionally limited to avoid excessive information and bloating in the infobox - iirc, we discussed it when designing it and settled on 10. For those with an excess of awards and acheivements, just detail the most significant in the infobox and use the awardssection variable along with a section within the article to detail them all (see Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, etc.). wjematherplease leave a message... 11:05, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
