Make it more complicated

[edit]

Very briefly, The Westin Zagreb has little to no information regarding the hotel and westin brand chain coorporation that runs westin zagreb. I will try to keep searching and researching the web and books but there arent more information regarding that. What do you excpect me to do? SatelliteChange (talk) 20:41, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's simple, if there is no significant coverage in reliable independent sources then Wikipedia doesn't require an article. Theroadislong (talk) 20:55, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Since you’re the one who deleted it and who obvioulsy knows everything, please, tell me what should be "significant coverage in reliable independent sources" for you to be accepted? SatelliteChange (talk) 21:01, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't deleted anything, to find out more about reliable sources read WP:RS. Theroadislong (talk) 21:04, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thank you for your help with my article on the above. You said remove external links and add citations. Can you please be more precise to what bits of information you are referring to? I also don't understand why you would delete external links once you add a citation? In academic literature adding links is standard practice.

Are you referring to the links to the paintings?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Eikoku (talkcontribs) 14:57, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Eikoku You have external links to https://www.edmontonartclub.com https://www.albertasocietyofartists.com and a number of museums, we don’t use links like that in the body of a Wikipedia article. Theroadislong (talk) 17:57, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

OK thank you very much. So re the museum and gallery holdings at the end what should I do? Should I link to the Wikipedia page of the institution and then have the artwork as a reference? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eikoku (talkcontribs) 18:17, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes that's right. Please also read WP:REFB for help with correctly formatting sources for example what are the "Supra" sources intended to be? Theroadislong (talk) 19:01, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK thanks. Supra means above in Latin and is a standard form of citation in ac academic works. Eikoku (talk) 19:07, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is NOT a standard format for Wikipedia though! Theroadislong (talk) 19:17, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So how should I refer to a source that has already been cited above? Eikoku (talk) 14:56, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Eikoku see WP:CONSECUTIVECITE. Theroadislong (talk) 15:04, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi That doesn't appear to be relevant. I am citing different pages in the same text in part. How do I do that? Can you provide some examples from live wikipedia pages please so I can follow that please? Eikoku (talk) 15:08, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
See WP:OPCIT for same source but different page number. Theroadislong (talk) 15:15, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry but I just can't understand any of these wikipedia descriptions which are far too technical - I really just need examples of what to do. Eikoku (talk) 15:18, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This one seems to just repeat the same citation again? John Duncan Fergusson Eikoku (talk) 15:15, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It states... Named references in conjunction with the {{rp}} or {{r}} templates to specify the page. Theroadislong (talk) 15:18, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I just don't undestand that. Can you provide some examples? Many thanks. Eikoku (talk) 15:19, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I would edit your draft to show you but I can make no sense of your citation style! I'll try and find an example. Theroadislong (talk) 15:22, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Can you follow the instructions here instead Template:Reference page. Theroadislong (talk) 15:24, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So supra 5 just means the reference is the same as that at citation 5.
I also see that ibid (as above) is discouraged... Eikoku (talk) 15:42, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh so I found this - it seems you just repeat the citation? Arthur Lismer See footnote 15 and 16. Eikoku (talk) 16:41, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes that's a possibility, though not a very tidy one. Theroadislong (talk) 16:43, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have reformatted a number of your sources, if you want to have a go at the rest I will be happy to check them over. Subject likely passes the criteria at WP:NARTIST but it's good to get the references sorted first. Theroadislong (talk) 17:08, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So for footnote 8 and 9 which is taken from the same source as 3 - based in the Arthur Lismer page and the John Duncan Ferguson page which just repeats the same citation in full - for footnote 8 and 9 I just repeat citation 3? Thank you. Eikoku (talk) 18:09, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I gave the ref a name here [1] and then linked it to the other footnotes 8 and 9 here [2]. Hope that’s clear? Theroadislong (talk) 18:20, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Can you revert it back please to how it was as I don't understand this at all and am concerned that citations have disappeared.
I found something which says you create a "short citation" rather than repeating the whole thing each time. Wikipedia:Citing sources This seems to be the best option as I understand it and can do myself. Thank you. Eikoku (talk) 18:34, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
the citations have NOT disappeared they have been formatted correctly I'm sorry you can't see that, perhaps somebody else at the Wikipedia:Teahouse could better explain it? Theroadislong (talk) 18:37, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please explain how I repeat what you have done then please? If I repeat what you have done is the next one 1RF? i.e. <ref name="1RF"> Eikoku (talk) 18:52, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Actually scrap that - can you do these too then further down too? Thank you!
ibid.
Supra 3
Supra 18
ibid.
ibid. Eikoku (talk) 18:38, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what Supra 18 or ibid refers to, this is why we don't use your method of citations here, because when another editor adds a source the numbering of the references changes. Theroadislong (talk) 18:45, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Can you explain how I repeat what you have done then please? Is it <ref name="1RF"> then 2 RF etc? Eikoku (talk) 18:53, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK - I've worked it out now. Thank you. Will tidy it up this weekend. Thank you very much for your help!!!! Eikoku (talk) 19:12, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The ref name can be anything I usually use the initials of the source but it can be anything you like. Theroadislong (talk) 19:24, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your help with the Radom Cathedral page

[edit]

I have moved it to the mainspace after your modifications. Do you have any additional thoughts? OldPolandUpdates (talk) 18:49, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not a good idea I have moved it back it would likely be tagged for deletion. It requires more sources to establish notability. Theroadislong (talk) 20:03, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How many sources are required to establish notability? There appear to be at least three sources in the draft that meet the GNP. Or am I improperly assessing the sources? OldPolandUpdates (talk) 21:27, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That meet the GNG, not "GNP." typo. OldPolandUpdates (talk) 21:28, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You will need to convince the editor who rejected the draft. Theroadislong (talk) 21:47, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Unappropriate tone?

[edit]

Please could you explain what you mean by this and i have also added links to all of the information SwimmersSocial (talk) 12:31, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What Should I do If I don't have any reference but Facebook?

Your draft Draft:Zamin Ali Qais has been declined because you haven't shown how they pass WP:GNG. I suggest you find other topics to edit. Theroadislong (talk) 06:51, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi the Nanette Ellis page you flagged as COI So I've had to contact you

[edit]

@Theroadislong on the page i started for Nanette Ellis you flagged it yesterday as a COI . I dont have any COI as I never knew her I've been researching this for years and wanted to explain that to you. The reasons for the edits were due to requests from Wiki reviewers the only reason I found out is my Mentor @Karnataka let me know. As I got no notification. So I'm contacting you here. Just wondering what suggested to you about a COI ? Thanking you Nanette unsolved (talk) 00:52, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I see where you are possibly getting this from and just wanted to explain I never met Nanette at all I was 10 when this happened have just messaged my mentor not sure how to do this so and to show you
@Nanette unsolved sorry I should have clarified, you can go to user talk:theroadislong and add a new topic from there. the info box is perfectly fine - the only thing I'll remove from it is the reward part but otherwise that box is completely fine. — Karnataka 01:38, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply][reply]
@Karnataka no problems thought that may have been the case but on looking at Margaret Tapp muders I've been following how they did it and they have the reward in there as well Murders of Margaret and Seana Tapp and that was not far from where Nanette was attacked so that is why i put it in there I have no association with that Wiki user but was getting ideas from their page. And got the idea from their page for the INFO box As I'm finding it difficult to use the Wikipedia explanations . We did know about her murder and it happened in my home town I was 10 at the time and no affiliation with her so I never met her but remember being very scared and I have no interest or gain from this what so ever. So No I never knew or met Nanette in any capacity. I think I may have written we knew Nanette in an earlier query but we knew of Nanette's murder due to proximity which is what i meant. It wants me to do all these steps and I dont know how to so I got on Theroadislongs page and started a new topic I will also put this on there under the topic to explain +Nanette unsolved (talk) 01:50, 6
I've remained neutral and have nothing to gain from this at all and have no bias and would never embarrass the great Wikipedia community Sincerely Nanette unsolved (talk) 01:59, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are a single purpose account and your user name is "Nanette unsolved" which is why I suspected a conflict of interest. Theroadislong (talk) 06:26, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Theroadislong I understand I'm happy to change the name I couldn't think of anything else to call myself and was a bit hasty with signing up. If you can tell me how. So sorry I did not even think about that will do what ever you suggest. Trying to learn all this and with mentorship and all the volunteers here. Nanette unsolved (talk) 08:52, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nanette unsolved Wikipedia:Changing username has all the info you need. Theroadislong (talk) 09:01, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Theroadislong thankyou Nanette unsolved (talk) 09:53, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Theroadislong I have put in a request for a new user name It's waiting to be reviewed. Nanette unsolved (talk) 05:26, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Theroadislong I have now changed my user name to remove suspected COI Shimmering Hills (talk) 05:52, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My Draft:Bjorn Vido passes as under the WP:General Notability Guideline

[edit]

Please review why you rejected my article as it meets the guide lines WP:General Notability Guideline Vanityorpride (talk) 14:04, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not seeing how it does but you are free to move the draft to mainspace. Be advised it will likely be taken to WP:AFD for the community to decide. Theroadislong (talk) 14:13, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Vanityorpride: you should however first respond to the conflict of interest (COI) query posted on your talk page. All your edits have to do with this or closely related subjects, which suggests you have an external relationship with, or indeed are yourself, this person. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 14:18, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree please do go over the article not just read the rejections
I rewrote the entire article with a neutral tone to make sure that people who are interested in the subject / person can view his profile and source his bio here
I’m not related to the subject on amy level
I’m writing this as a article that will inspire me to fix other articles and create more in future Vanityorpride (talk) 14:23, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please do assist in approving the draft to be moved to the main space as i rewrote everything using paraphrasing , summarising and reliable sources that I know are meant to be on Wikipedia and accredit me as a good editor as time goes Vanityorpride (talk) 14:24, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Image

[edit]

I generated the image but it’s been removed from Draft:Bjorn Vido

please do accept it to be moved onto the main space Vanityorpride (talk) 16:13, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Let me correct the statement for you.
You said "I generated the image but it’s been removed from Draft:Bjorn Vido." However, that should read "I generated the image but I removed It from Draft:Bjorn Vido"
It's a small point, but an important one
The pedigree of the picture is being dealt with on Wikimedia Commons (talk page watcher) 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 16:22, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
True
I’m learning more on Wikipedia everyday especially its laws on images
now that I removes the image from the article does it meet the requirements for approval or I should work on another article and leave this one Vanityorpride (talk) 16:24, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Vanityorpride It is not the image that hinders/hindered acceptance. The reviewers said what they felt disqualified it from acceptance. I have not reviewed it, not even in passing, but I suspect them to be correct.
The thing is, I don't review drafts that have been rejected unless something spectacular is different.
You are free to move ity yourself, as I have said before. There is no penalty to you for doing so. the review process is not compulsory
Images are almost always handled on Wikimedia Commons. If you have permission to have uploaded that one you should use c:COM:VRT to register that permission. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 16:34, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Potential Studios LLP

[edit]

Hi, you have mentioned Times of India is not a reliable source which surprises me. Times of India is one of the leading news paper and news websites in India. KualaLumpurian (talk) 13:17, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please see WP:TOI for why the TOI is not necessarily reliable. In short, their fact checking is poor; they have also published at least one AI-generated article. India in general, frankly, does not have a strong history of press freedom. 331dot (talk) 13:23, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Beginning to see some trouble in Piece by Piece (2024 film) again

[edit]

A user with the handle "The Clutch Powers" is making [4] [5] more edits about the companies "Tongal" and Pure Imagination Studios. A relatively new user. Claims they recieve an "in association with" credit in the film. the user tries to present these companies as production companies. Even if this is so, and I myself believe it: This is obviously not the definition of a production company. Stark difference there.

Anyway, this could be a sock or meatpuppet from the Pure Imagination Studios company, seeing as we've encountered this trouble before by one of their paid interns trying to add this information (if you recall). It may be too early to invoke WP:DUCK, but I've got my suspicions. Just wanted to put this forth to your attention.

Hope you've been doing well! BarntToust (talk) 14:47, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Sorry I dont understant how I can make an article about prof Polyakov. I made this draft, included some references but it was rejected. Pls clarify what Im doing wrong. John S. Ford (talk) 16:43, 14 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It was declined not rejected. As per previous reviewers comment "this is still far from adequate: in articles on living people, every material statement, anything potentially contentious, and all private personal details such as DOB must be clearly supported by inline citations to reliable published sources, or else removed." You have vast swathes of unsourced content. Theroadislong (talk) 16:46, 14 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
