Article of Deletion - AGPL

[edit]

Good afternoon sir. About 11:30 p.m. last night myself and my colleagues were astonished to discover that our page, "The Advanced Placement Gaming League," was removed and protected by yourself. We feel that this is unjust, and let us present our argument. This is an official school-sanctioned league authorized by the administration. Also, our article was fairly new and we didn't have the time to properly cite our articles and sources. In addition, we were cited as violating "patent nonsense," when clearly the properties that were found on our page were the intellectual properties of ourselves and we officially released them to public domain. We feel that in the best interests of our organization we deserve to have our page reinstated, as we followed Wikipedia's article creation guidelines. We respect your decision and your status on this credible website, yet we urge you to reconsider this oversight on your behalf. We are a legitimate organization, and please give this deletion some thought. Thank you for your time and for your contributions to this website, but we also ask that you reinstate our organization's page. Thank you once again. --PRB216 19:43, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rugby union project

[edit]

There's a Wikipedia:WikiProject Rugby union that you probably don't know about. The league equivalent is working quite nicely but the union one only has five participants. So I'm leaving messages on the talk pages of the main contributors. You don't have to sign up but your contribution would be welcomed.GordyB 11:01, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

G'day mate, I suggest you take a look at WikiProject AFL, the latest footy-related thing we have going on here. Drop us a line with any questions and also take a look at Category:VFL/AFL players. I look forward to your input and contributions if you decide to join. Cheers, Rogerthat Talk 08:10, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You voted "Merge". The content has recently been added to List of internet slang. Would you consider changing your vote to delete? Savidan 22:01, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm fine with a redirect, but traditionally when one is created from an AfD the article is deleted first and then a redirect is created to prevent someone from wandering into the article and restoring it. I don't see why that would violate the GFDL... Savidan 23:18, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Otago Highlanders

[edit]

Hi Stormie, I was just browsing WikiProject:Rugby Union and saw that you are a Highlanders fan. I just wanted to let you know of the existence of the Category:Users who support the Otago Highlanders (which is sadly underpopulated) and the associated Highlanders userbox. You might be interested in adding one or both of these to your userpage. Blarneytherinosaur 00:47, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No worries about the userbox, I'm just happy to have some company in the category. I think it will be a bit of an ask to hold off the Hurricanes, particularly with Tana Umaga set to return. Blarneytherinosaur 01:03, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I'm a fan of the Highlanders, too. Do you know where I could get in touch with other fans on the internet? (Sweden isn't really overpopulated by people from Otago...)

Awesome Page- nice work!! Ronan.evans 04:26, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Was reading your comments on Ronan's talk page - looks like we have the same book. Its pretty good eh? Used it in 1996 Super 12 season--HamedogTalk|@ 09:05, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, its a good read. Been staying up a bit to late reading (midnight last night!), but yeah, its really good. Only thing I wish it had was attendace figures!!! --HamedogTalk|@ 09:41, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rugby Dates

[edit]

Well I wanted to avoid an edit war, especially since it was an RU editor, its just that I went and changed the dates to the ones we were already using on some of the newly created nations pages, then he sent me a message saying that I should stop making bad edits. Anyway, the whole episode was rather a waste of time - I just wanted to use the dates that were already being used (also on football), so someone did not have to go and change the dates to this new style to the other 50 articles. But anyway, it does not matter now. Thanks for the message. Cheers. Cvene64 13:36, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Crowd for Brum-High

[edit]

Just replying to your comment on history, I watched it on Foxtel and they said the figure was 19,000 (a bit over, not exactly sure).

Quite happy, especially after those two *hipcups*. I did enjoy the Waratahs-Chiefs game too, gave the Crusaders top spot!--HamedogTalk|@ 12:20, 6 May 2006 (UTC)BTW, are you going to watch the Force vs Cheetahs?[reply]
Pretty boring first half, might go and watch the final ten if it has picked up...--HamedogTalk|@ 13:58, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed Georgia Move

[edit]

As a past participant in the discussion on how to handle the Georgia pages, I thought you might be interested to know that there's a new attempt to reach consensus on the matter being addressed at Talk:Georgia (country)#Requested_Move_-_July_2006. Please come by and share your thoughts to help form a consensus. --Vengeful Cynic 04:01, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use policy

[edit]

Hiya! This edit you made to Template:Orphaned fairuse not replaced.. can you point me towards where the decision was taken to change this from seven days to two? Also, note that the categories such as Category:Orphaned fairuse images as of 12 July 2006 still say "once an image has been tagged as orphaned for more than seven days it should be deleted," not two days. —Stormie 07:01, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Website

[edit]

Ok, sorry about re-editing those articles. I thought you were some Wikipedia n00b, and didn't know that you were an administrator. However, I am not the owner of The Shadow Sun, but I am a member. I will stop editing though. BTW, TSS is a verifiable acronym for The Shadow Sun, on the contrary to what you said. Zealotgi 03:36, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hayford Peirce archives

[edit]

Many thanks for your correction -- it's only the second time I've ever done an Archive thingee and it's slightly more complicated than I had remembered. Now that I know where this first one is, I'll know what to do in the future. Grazie! Hayford Peirce 15:58, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Grand Architect

[edit]

Yes, I hate this part. Don't do history merges if, like me, you have a limited attention span. The article I deleted is currently in limbo- not deleted, but still not back yet. It will eventually reappear, and when it does, you revert my last edit (a self-directing redirect) back to the article. CanadianCaesar Et tu, Brute? 06:22, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't know what it should be called. I just remembered that a long time ago, someone moved the content under another title without moving the article, thus breaking the page history. You can't do that, so I fixed it. What it's moved to next, I have no opinion. CanadianCaesar Et tu, Brute? 06:25, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Coiner blanked

[edit]

Hello. I believe that you are on the admin list and I know that you voted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Coiner. It looks like the article’s author has blanked out the entire discussion (although it is actually just commented out). Part of me says that there is purposeful disruption here, but another part of me thinks that we may be dealing with a very inexperienced user who doesn't understand what they are doing. Can you please take a look and implement whichever remedy you feel is appropriate? Thanks. --Brian G (Talk) 20:29, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Dave!!

[edit]

Man, it's good to hear from you!!!! Thank you for the welcome! I return a "new and improved" editor after focusing of helping some smaller wikis grow. I don't have the mop and bucket here anymore, but I'd asked to be dropped, so it's possible I can be reinstated. Already talked to Jimbo; he's checking with ArbCom. One way or another, it's nice just to edit. Lost m'taste for vandal-slaying.  :) - Lucky 6.9 05:22, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Who'd a-thunk it? I don't even know that much about the Austin Powers films. Funny story: The guy who started it actually began as a vandal at the radio control wiki! He was a rather repentant soul and asked for my help. So, I am now a bureaucrat at a wiki with a grand total of fifteen articles. Ah, the life of an internet surfer. - Lucky 6.9 06:13, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You Rashashana

[edit]

I deleted the notice and then thought I should follow the rules and leave it on and put on that thing. Thanks for taking it off. Some people just can't wait to speedy delete stuff. --Gbleem 00:39, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Roshashana

[edit]

The redirect of Roshashana was marked for Speedy Deletion for at the time had no sensible content: "#REDIRECT [[ ]]" was all the article contained. Due to the enormous amounts of posts that are created and left unfinished or worse, articles like this are commonly marked for Speedy Deletion. It is perfectly with in the rights of the user to write a hangon to the article and complete it to which time an approved admin can remove the tag. It was legally marked, and now the article has the content to not have it marked, but we simply cannot make that assumption about every incomplete article that comes our way and its very easy to fix.

I hope this helps and I see all worked out. Good luck. Mkdw 04:31, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I can understand your frustration with the clause I added to the World of Warcraft, however it is fact and not vandalism. I take much offense to you calling my edit vandalism. The clause I added is as follows:

The episode illustrated the pointlessness of WoW and the lack of talent or skill needed by those who play it.

This is simple fact and was the intent of the South Park writers. Have you even seen the episode? If you would like a step by step analysis of the episode and how it illustrated the pointlessness of WoW and the lack of skill needed by those who play it I will gladly give it to you, but for now I will re-add the clause. It is one sentence intended to give the reader perspective on the themes of the episode. However, if you feel so strongly about the statement, I think we may be able to come to a compromise on it's wording. REscano 05:38, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think thats an unfair comment nad its more of an opion rather than fact. I play WoW and believe me it does require some skills. For example patience is one very important skill when leveling up, being kind to fellow players is also required as well as been able to utilise the skills and spell elements of the game to good effect. WoW is in fact a very skillful game to play.ManyBrains1 15:11, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Super 14 moves

[edit]

I see that you voted oppose on Talk: Blues (rugby team). Do you realise thought that this is a requested move for four pages? If you exclude moving the Blues rugby article, the other three pages (Chiefs, Hurricanes, Highlanders) are all redirects, as the page Crusaders once was. Perhaps you might want to support these three moves, providing they have a header like the Crusaders Article?--HamedogTalk|@ 01:56, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Welcoming Congregation" restructuring

[edit]

Please see my comment on reorganization of the "Welcoming Congregation" topic (replying there). Thanks! --Haruo 07:08, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Stormie, you edited one of the affected articles (e.g. DignityUSA, More Light, Reconciling congregations...). If you have no interest in the topic and/or no strong opinions about the issue at hand, my apologies for including you. (Your edit may have been rather minor, I basically sent the notice to all Users who had edited the pages in question and whom I did not know to be Bots.) --Haruo 09:27, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I am Wide Eyed Frog. You recently removed my page devoted to Robert Venn. You appear to have misunderstood the purpose of said page, which was not created to mock but to honour such a genius of our time. It would be greatly apreciated if you would allow me to re-post this page for a more permanent basis so that we all can honour and marvel at such an extraordinary gentleman. I will awaiting your correspondance.

Articles up for Deletion

[edit]

You've selected my articles up for deletion, the ones about David Howell (games designer) and Netdemons.co.uk. Netdemons.co.uk is Davids website, and I can't add anything to the pages yet because he's not replying to emails - apparantly he's re-forming his site. Would it be better for me to merge the two articles togther? Please reply.ManyBrains1 15:25, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
