Blog sources

[edit]

Hi, glad to see you getting the hang of the jargon! The core policies of WP:NPOV, No original research and specifically Verifiability require us to use the best available sources, which we have to evaluate for their reputation for fact checking and accuracy. Newsblogs are acceptable as sources if the writers are professionals and the blog is subject to the newspaper's full editorial control: follow the link for more details. Often they're only suitable as opinion pieces, so treat with care. Similarly, blogs or other self-published sources may be considered reliable when produced by an established expert on the topic of the article whose work in the relevant field has previously been published by reliable third-party publications, but again look at the link for the care needed. For an example such as the Huffington Post, it would almost certainly be an opinion piece which could be used as "Professor Strabismus of Utrecht says that..." if Dr. Strabismus is an expert on the field. We tend to avoid titles, there's a rule for that somewhere but have forgotten where. Hope that helps! . . dave souza, talk 15:18, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What ruling?

What ruling are you talking about there? --NewGuy5342 (talk) 23:07, 11 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OK. That's what I suspected but wanted to be clear. Note that the link provided by IMJ is part of a policy. It therefore has long standing support within wkipedia. There are also guidelines which are less "powerful" than policies. Then there are essays which seem to be the least weighty of the three from what I can tell. --NewGuy5342 (talk) 23:59, 11 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I read about your interest in editing China-related articles. What areas of Chinese history are you interested in?Ferox Seneca (talk) 06:45, 19 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

FAR Transhumanism

[edit]

I have nominated Transhumanism for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Itsmejudith (talk) 22:05, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WPFC subprojects

[edit]

Hello Shadowy Sorcerer, you are the only current active member of the Chinese task force. Members are considered inactive if their last contribution to Wikipedia has been over 6 months ago. There is a current discussion going on concerning the merging and removal of some of the WPFC's subprojects due to the overlap and relative inactivity of those currently extant. Please respond to me soon with your support of or opposition to the merging of a single Chinese task force, or the removal of the two. The current two subprojects that will be merged or removed are the Regions bureau, and the Chinese task force. Thank you, Xuxalliope (talk) 11:58, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As a member of WikiProject Water Margin, you're invited to share your views with us at Talk:108 Stars of Destiny#Merger with individual character articles regarding a proposed merger of individual articles on Water Margin characters (more specifically, the Liangshan heroes, including Chao Gai but excluding Song Jiang) with another page 108 Stars of Destiny. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:49, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
