Frontage roads

[edit]

No but that's certainly a good example. I can write some stuff on it later tonight.. if you want to write some today some notable examples of a *lack* of frontage roads are Interstate 35E through portions of north Oak Cliff, a good deal of the Dallas North Tollway south of Harvest Hill.. and Interstate 635 (I think..) in north Dallas. TXDOT struck a deal recently with .. some local municipality.. or multiple ones, to build frontage roads along Interstate 20 through southern Dallas County and perhaps Interstate 30 as well.

Also, though most frontage roads are one-way, Interstate 35E south of Belt Line Road in Desoto, Texas and Glenn Heights, Texas (though this isnt the city of Dallas so its inclusion is questionable) are two-way, though they are being converted to one-way with ongoing construction. drumguy8800 C T 12:41, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Valley View Center

[edit]

Thanks for noticing the copyvio in the Valley View Center article. Next time you see an obvious copyright violation like that and know the source of the violation, don't use the {{copypaste}} tag, but rather go ahead and tag it with the {{copyvio}} tag, and list it on Wikipedia:Copyright problems so that the offending material can be fully removed from the encyclopedia. The promotion of the Houston article and your barnstar made my day! Thank you so much. Take care, Postoak

Hey first off, thanks so much for all the work you're doing on DFW articles. You rock. Secondly, I've addressed the concerns at Template talk:convert (mostly).. now you can do the following:

  • adding |abbr=on abbreviates the first unit
  • adding |sing=on makes the unit appear in its singular form, for grammar issues. (ex: "The 108 foot building" instead of the "the 108 feet building")

.. also, I've added a few things to prevent line-breaking, though I don't think they're working out so well. I tried placing it in both a span and a div (both failed) with white-space:nowrap; but for some reason it didn't make any difference. drumguy8800 C T 00:58, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dallas, Texas broken references & Stonebriar Centre

[edit]

Thank you for your work checking for broken references in the Dallas article. I'm sure that was time consuming and I appreciate your diligence. Also, I just did some maintenance work on Stonebriar Centre and couldn't help but notice that the page referenced was for Valley View Mall.. also according to the page referenced, the GLA is 500k. According to a page from Simon discussing Allen Premium Outlets (google "Stonebriar Centre GLA"), the GLA is about 1.6 mil. I couldn't find/didn't feel like trying very hard to find the actual GLA on the Stonebriar Centre website. Do you know if it is accurate? -- drumguy8800 C T 06:31, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing out this discrepancy. As it turns out, the GLA statistic for Stonebriar Centre had been misplaced, and the statistic for Valley View Center was in its place. I have taken the correct statistic and its appropriate reference from the List of shopping malls in Dallas, Texas where all the correct information and references were intact. -- RedPoptarts 21:20, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Hulen Mall, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Replaceable fair use Image:DFW-Skylink.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:DFW-Skylink.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. –Dream out loud (talk) 15:41, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Suboslo-Dubs in the key of Life.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Suboslo-Dubs in the key of Life.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:53, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:SubOslo-vinyl.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:SubOslo-vinyl.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Wiki Loves Pride: Houston

[edit]

You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride 2014, a campaign to improve coverage of LGBT-related content on Wikipedia throughout the month of June. On June 21, there will be a multi-national edit-a-thon, if you wish to participate. Here is the project page for Houston: Wikipedia:Meetup/Houston/Wiki Loves Pride 2014. Ways to help? Create or improve LGBT-related articles, host an edit-a-thon at a local coffeeshop, library or other location, or photograph LGBT culture and history in the Houston area. Visit the project page for more information, and if you are interested in contributing, just add your name to the list of supporters or add the results of your work. Thanks for your consideration! --Another Believer (Talk) 20:39, 11 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
