License tagging for File:Mehdi tehrani.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mehdi tehrani.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 11:30, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Mehdi tehrani.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mehdi tehrani.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 09:32, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you translated text from fi:Toivala to Toivala. While you are welcome to translate Wikipedia content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing requires that you provide attribution to the contributor(s) of the original article. When translating from a foreign-language Wikipedia article, this is supplied at a minimum in an edit summary on the page where you add translated content, identifying it as a translation and linking it to the source page. For example: Content in this edit is translated from the existing French Wikipedia article at [[:fr:Exact name of French article]]; see its history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if translation is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{translated page}} template on the talk pages of the destination article. If you have added translated content previously which was not attributed at the time it was added, please add attribution retrospectively for that also, even if it was a long time ago. You can read more about author attribution and the reasons for it at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

In addition, please make sure to ensure the accuracy of the translation, especially if you are using machine translation. For example, machine translation from Finnish to English commonly makes mistakes with inflected names. Ljleppan (talk) 21:16, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The page Mahmoud Eskandari has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seemed to be unambiguous advertising which only promoted a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to have been fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, or you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Mehrangiz Mallah moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Mehrangiz Mallah, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hello, Patricia Mannerheim

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username DoubleGrazing, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Hilja Tavaststjerna, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|DoubleGrazing}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Notability

[edit]

Hi (again),

I've said this to you before, and I can see that others have also raised the same or related points here, but I feel like I need to remind you again that notability is absolutely essential, and a hard requirement for any article to be accepted into Wikipedia. When translating articles (eg. from the Finnish Wikipedia, as you seem to do), the first thing you must check is whether the sources are adequate, and if not, whether you can find more and/or better ones. If not, then there is no point in translating that article, because it will simply not be accepted. And creating lots of articles which fail on notability grounds not only generates additional work for others at NPP, AfC and/or AfD, as well as admins, it will also eventually attract the sort of attention you don't really want to attract. Once more: just because an article exists in eg. fi.wiki does not mean it must be translated into English, and – more to the point – it does not mean it will be accepted here.

HTH, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:22, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @DoubleGrazing: and Thanks for your attention, I will have to be more careful in finding sources for the article. But please admit that articles about Finnish women are really weak. I compare with articles about Swedish women, I see that Swedish speakers (I am familiar with Swedish language) are better off. The best thing is: I will stop writing Finnish articles for a while. I pay attention to women of other nationalities and write articles for them according to sources. Unfortunately, due to being in a wheelchair, I lost the ability to attend the university where I teach and attend libraries for a few months. The internet is also sometimes not helpful. I strongly believe that offline sources can help the essay. Another thing: Patricia never wants to be the user who ignores the teachings of other experienced users. I always respond to a friendly comment deeply positively and respectfully. —Patricia (Talk) 11:36, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, I fully agree that Wikipedia should have more articles on women, in general and Finnish women specifically, which is why, like you, I also take part in the Women in Red project to help rectify this. But we still need to comply with the notability etc. requirements, because there is little point in creating an article only for it to be deleted soon afterwards for lack of notability. It pains me every time, while doing new page patrolling, when I come across a poorly-sourced article and know that I must either draftify or delete it, but alas these are the rules by which we have to play. Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 12:23, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Once again with the translations

[edit]

Hi again. Please stop inventing translated names for artistic works like you did with the edits Special:Diff/1179479740, Special:Diff/1179490007 and Special:Diff/1179509828. This isn't complicated, see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Titles of works#Translations. At the same time, please take the time to translate all Finnish language prose in the articles you are creating. To make this abundantly clear, let me give you a direct example.

This Finnish language entry

Jouluilta satumaassa: viisi pientä satunäytelmää, Astrid Wång-Mariani, kuv. Margit Broberg, suom. Immi Hellén. Kuvataide, 1930.

should be translated as

Jouluilta satumaassa: viisi pientä satunäytelmää, Astrid Wång-Mariani, ill. Margit Broberg, transl. Immi Hellén. Kuvataide, 1930.

if you want to keep the abbreviated style, or as

Jouluilta satumaassa: viisi pientä satunäytelmää, Astrid Wång-Mariani, illustrated by Margit Broberg, translated by Immi Hellén. Kuvataide, 1930.

if you want to write out the abbreviations, or as

Jouluilta satumaassa: viisi pientä satunäytelmää (A Christmas Evening in a Fairy Tale Land: Five Small Fairy Tale Plays), Astrid Wång-Mariani, illustrated by Margit Broberg, translated by Immi Hellén. Kuvataide, 1930.

if you want to include a literal English translation (potentially translated by you) for the benefit of the readers.

What you did at Immi Hellén,

Christmas night in fairyland: five small fairy-tale plays. Astrid Wång-Mariani, kuv. Margit Broberg, suom. Immi Hellén. Kuvataide, 1930.

is the worst possible way to do it. First, it lies to the reader by claiming that the work is well known by the English language title you appear to have just made up. Second, it leaves the actual associated prose untranslated from Finnish: readers who don't understand Finnish will have no idea what kuv. or suom. mean. Third, it's not a faithful translation: fairyland would be reasonable if the original was something like keijumaa or keijujen maa, but not for satumaa (lit.'land of the fairy tales'). Ljleppan (talk) 19:07, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sure this is not the best way to stop and disobey me. The best way to learn and help edit articles. Check out these articles: Anette Reuterskiöld, Lina Snellman. Some have been translated, some have not.
But about the last article you kept pressuring me. The history of edits is also proof of my words. You can't stop me from writing, from now on leave a message on the discussion page of the article. in this way I re-edited most of the articles you criticized. —Patricia (Talk) 10:49, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
