Hi! Thank you for your review of the A3 (Croatia) article. I addressed all issues you brought up, but there is still unresolved question of the average toll. I added an inline citation linking to the official price list as I could not come up with an accurate figure for the average toll charge.

I would like to promote the article to FA eventually, as you mentioned in the review, so if you have any suggestions in that respect, those are very much welcome and appreciated. Thanks!--Tomobe03 (talk) 22:35, 8 October 2010 (UTC)

By the way, would you like to review a similar article - A6 (Croatia) which is also headed for GAN shortly and is also listed at WP:PR?--Tomobe03 (talk) 19:32, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

The ultimate train man project

You may be able to steer me to somebody who would know how to find sources on this:

Shawmont Station, 1834?

Supposedly this station is the oldest extant passenger railroad station in the U.S. (A Maryland 1830 or 1831 freight station was converted to a passenger station in the 1850s) At least according to our Manayunk/Norristown_Line#Station_list and two rail fan type websites. [1] and [2]. There something in the 1st about a Philadelphia Register of Historic Places, but I think that listing is unobtainable via the internet. I'll be investigating this, but slowly until I can get a foothold on it. Smallbones (talk) 04:21, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi! Your comments on earlier PRs for Croatian motorway articles were very helpful, so would you be so kind to have a look at the A4 (Croatia) as well. Thanks!--Tomobe03 (talk) 12:36, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the review!--Tomobe03 (talk) 18:25, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks

Somehow, I forgot to thank you for your help with the peer review of Bartow, Florida. I really appreciate the time you spent helping my improve the article. After correcting the errors made (I was fortunate enough to have four people who have FA experience), I have submitted it as a GA nominee. Thanks once again and sorry for the delayed thanks. Thanks - I was very pleasantly surprised when Raul picked it for the Main Page - did not have much notice, but it was still in pretty good shape. Thanks again for your encouraging me to go see the house and get more photos of it. Hope all is well with you, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 01:30, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Review of A7 (Croatia)

Hi! Would you please take a look at A7 (Croatia) - I recently expanded the article as I plan to submit it to GAN shortly. I already asked you to review other Croatian motorway articles - and this one is very similar to those in terms of structure and style. The was recently reviewed by WP:GOCE, and I will list it at WP:PR later today.--Tomobe03 (talk) 12:32, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the review! As for the GAs are concerned, review comments supplied by you and other wikipedians really made the difference.--Tomobe03 (talk) 01:07, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Welcome to the 2011 WikiCup!

Hello, happy new year and welcome to the 2011 WikiCup! Your submissions' page can be found here and instructions of how to update the page can be found here and on the submissions' page itself. From the submissions' page, a bot will update the main scoresheet. Our rules have been very slightly updated from last year; the full rules can be found here. Please remember that you can only receive points for content on which you have done significant work in 2011; nominations of work from last year and "drive-by" nominations will not be awarded points. Signups are going to remain open through January, so if you know of anyone who would like to take part, please direct them to Wikipedia:WikiCup/2011 signups. The judges can be contacted on the WikiCup talk page, on their respective talk pages, or by email. Other than that, we will be in contact at the end of every month with the newsletter. If you want to stop or start receiving newsletters, please remove your name from or add your name to this list. Good luck! J Milburn and The ed17 12:58, 1 January 2011 (UTC)

DYK for Inclined Plane Bridge

The DYK project (nominate) 18:02, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your kind words and congrats on the DYK! I have the Johnstown Inclined Plane on my watchlist and have noticed your steady and substantial improvements to it recently. Assume you are eventually going for GA or (more likely) FA? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 20:25, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
I thought it looked more like a potential FA. Ping me and I will be glad to review it at PR. I have not been on this one, but I have ridden funiculars in Europe and always like pictures showing the two cars in one shot. If you are feeling opinionated, you could always weigh in on a discussion at the Forksville CB talk page on what order in which to have columns in the table. Angels dancing on the head of a pin is next week. ;-) Ruhrfisch ><>°° 21:48, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
I always assumed it was really something medieval, but it sounds like it was made up much later. I like the answer infinity. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:23, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
I replied at the PR and added two more things from the NRHP form that should be included. Thanks for your work on this and glad my comments were helpful, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 19:05, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
I just re-read it - added a missing verb. I also wondered if this sentence The Johnstown Inclined Plane was sold in April 1935 for $1 by the successor of Cambria Iron, Bethlehem Steel, to the borough of Westmont.[14] could be recast in active voice, so something like Bethlehem Steel, the successor of Cambria Iron, sold the Johnstown Inclined Plane in April 1935 to the borough of Westmont for $1.[14] SOmeone at FAC may want more details on the human fatality, but I know the NRHP form does not say lot more. Please let me know when it is at FAC and I will gladly support. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 05:17, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Numismatics

Hi Niagara. I am the principal author of the Morgan dollar. I just wanted to leave a note here thanking you again for the thoughtful review at PR. I noticed your talk page says you're interested in numismatics. What are you mainly interested in? I was just curious because numismatics are my primary focus here. Thanks again!-RHM22 (talk) 20:27, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

In response to your post on my talk page: That's how I feel about most other subjects here! It can be very hard to find useful material for reference, even on a subject that is as thoroughly covered (in print) as U.S. coins. I was inspired by the excellent work of Wehwalt to help improve numismatic information here. I don't know if you've taken any photographs of your collection or not, but you could always add a numismatic-related image to Commons if you have. That's something that we could really use here. I'm not good at taking photos myself. Please don't feel like I'm trying to make you feel obligated or anything, I just wanted to let you know that images are always welcomed. Morgan dollar is my first GA and PR request, but I hope I'll be able to give you more to review in the future!-RHM22 (talk) 22:08, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

Sacagawea dollar

Hi Niagara. Sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you might be able to help me with something. I need an obverse picture of a Sacagawea dollar for an article I'm working on. Amazingly enough, I can't find any free use photos! Usually the U.S. Mint website is a good source, but they have copyrighted their Sac obverse images for some reason. Apparently reverse images are alright, but not obverse. If you have a scan of one from your collection, could you please upload it to Commons for me? 2009 or after would be best (because that is the current obverse), but any date would be great. Don't go out of your way if you don't have one, though. Thanks for your time!-RHM22 (talk) (contributions) 20:00, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

I'm not positive, but I don't believe that U.S. coin designs can be copyrighted once they're in production. I might be mistaken, though. Either way, I think your fair use idea is a good one, and that's what I'll do. Thanks! I'll let you know when the article is finished. I'll be going for GA/FA once it's completed.-RHM22 (talk) 23:28, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
Wow, that's really unusual. I never heard of that before. Thanks for offering to help with the fair use rationale. I find copyright law very confusing most of the time, so I'll probably take you up on that offer! Thanks again.-RHM22 (talk) 23:48, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
Hi again Niagara. Sorry to bother you again, but I had a small question about the fair use of images. Do you think I could do that for American Arts Commemorative Series medallion? I plan to nominate it for GA eventually, but I can't find a free use image anywhere and I think it really needs one.-RHM22 (talk) 15:01, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
That's a good point about the medallions, I don't think any are copyrighted, and I wouldn't have any way to find out even if they were. I'll contact the Mint and see if they can provide anything first.-RHM22 (talk) 17:51, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
Sure, that's fine. Normally I don't move articles like that, but I just figured that it wasn't a big deal since the article was only at the new name for a couple of days. Hopefully there wasn't too much damage done. Thank you for your thoughtfulness in letting me know and correcting the problem!-RHM22 (talk) 20:06, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
Hi Niagara. I just wanted to let you know that the Sac article is finished, and it's in the mainspace now at Sacagawea dollar. I uploaded the obverse with fair use rationale as we discussed earlier. The picture is here. Do you think I did the rationale right? I think I did it alright, but I'm not positive if I was specific enough on some of the fields. Thanks for all the help with this.-RHM22 (talk) 02:22, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Those images look wonderful like that! I was trying to figure out how to do that but I wasn't getting anywhere. I really like the idea about the "small" tags, so I used them and it really improves the look considerably. I thought that the caps looked ugly, but I didn't even think of using that. Thanks again for the help!-RHM22 (talk) 14:56, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

WikiCup 2011 January newsletter

We are half way through round one of the WikiCup. Signups are now closed, and we have 129 listed competitors, 64 of whom will make it to round two. Congratulations to The Bushranger (submissions), who, at the time of writing, has a comfortable lead with 228 points, followed by Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions), with 144 points. Four others have over 100 points. Congratulations also go to Greece Yellow Evan (submissions), who scored the first points in the competition, claiming for Talk:Hurricane King/GA1, Principality of Sealand Miyagawa (submissions), who scored the first non-review points in the competition, claiming for Dognapping, and United Kingdom Jarry1250 (submissions) who was the first in the competition to use our new "multiplier" mechanic (explanation), claiming for Grigory Potemkin, a subject covered on numerous Wikipedias. Thanks must also go to Jarry1250 for dealing with all bot work- without you, the competition wouldn't be happening!

A running total of claims can be seen here. However, numerous competitors are yet to score at all- please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. The number of points that will be needed to reach round two is not clear- everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Congrats

On Erie, Pennsylvania at TFA.

Smallbones (talk) 00:43, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

Yes, from me too - will add it my watchlist next. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:13, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
I can sympathize - had fairly short notice when Forksville Covered Bridge was TFA - the National Bridge Inventory had been updated since it became FA and so the data had to be updated in the article and several links had gone dead or moved too. Still, always nice to see your work on the Main Page! Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:49, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

Erie–Western Pennsylvania Port Authority

The Erie–Western Pennsylvania Port Authority does not appear in the List of municipal authorities in Erie County, Pennsylvania, and the authority's web site doesn't say what law authorized it. Most Pennsylvania authorities are either on the list of municipal authorities for a county, or their web sites say how they were authorized, usually by a specific state law or by interstate compacts. I have created government agency articles, such as Philadelphia Parking Authority and Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority, so I know they are hard work. Best wishes in creating an article.--DThomsen8 (talk) 01:02, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

Barnstar

Johnstown Inclined Plane

I added a Strong Support vote to the Johnstown Inclined Plane Featured Article Candidate page, but now I am confused about the status. Has it passed? --DThomsen8 (talk) 18:16, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Thanks - so far it has two supports and no opposes, though there is one image question. It needs at least three supports to be promoted to FA (and the FA director or one of his delegates will leave a note when it is promoted (or not)). Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:28, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
Saw the comments. Just remember your motto! Don't give up the ship!--DThomsen8 (talk) 02:00, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
Just saw that Johnstown Inclined Plane was promoted - congratulations! Ruhrfisch ><>°° 04:01, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
Congratulations! Does this mean that eventually the article will be on the main page? --DThomsen8 (talk) 13:45, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

GA Review

I have recently placed some comments on a GA review page. The editor of the article says that if no photos are available on Wikimedia Commons or to be found in the public domain elsewhere, then GA status can be achieved anyway. What do you think? I am not the primary reviewer, and other reviewers will be needed, but I am learning about what is expected from the inclined plane review. --DThomsen8 (talk) 02:02, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Barnstar

The Liberty Walking Barnstar
I award this barnstar to Niagara for helping me upload my first fair use file and for helping improve numismatic coverage on Wikipedia. Thanks!-RHM22 (talk) 20:43, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
Thanks! Morgan dollar is my first FA. Sacagawea dollar is up now. Your barnstar was well deserved!-RHM22 (talk) 02:48, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
By the way, you wouldn't happen to know where I might find a free use Flowing Hair dollar image, would you? I've been looking and asking around all over for some images, and I just can't find any. I'm going to try and get it to GA or maybe FA, but the lack of clear pictures are preventing me from doing that. I found some good line drawings that I can use if I really have to, but I'd definitely rather use a good photo.-RHM22 (talk) 04:06, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, hopefully one of use will be able to get a photo! I never imagined it would be so difficult to find a photo of such a famous coin.-RHM22 (talk) 17:15, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

WikiCup 2011 February newsletter

So begins round two of the WikiCup! We now have eight pools, each with eight random contestants. This round will continue until the end of April, when the top two of each pool, as well as the next 16 highest scorers of those remaining, will make it to round three. Congratulations to The Bushranger (submissions) (first, with 487 points) and Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions) (second, with 459), who stormed the first round. Scotland Casliber (submissions) finished third with 223. Twelve others finished with over 100 points- well done to all of you! The final standings in round one can be seen here. A mere 8 points were required to reach round two; competition will no doubt be much more fierce this round, so be ready for a challenge! A special thanks goes, again, to United Kingdom Jarry1250 (submissions) for dealing with all bot work. This year's bot, as well as running smoothly, is doing some very helpful things that last year's did not. Also, thanks to Bavaria Stone (submissions) for some helpful behind-the-scenes updating and number crunching.

Some news for those who are interested- March will see a GAN backlog elimination drive, which you are still free to join. Organised by WikiProject Good articles, the drive aims to minimise the GAN backlog and offers prizes to those who help out. Of course, you may well be able to claim WikiCup points for the articles you review as part of the drive. Also ongoing is the Great Backlog Drive, looking to work on clearing all of the backlogs on Wikipedia; again, incentives are offered, and the spirit of friendly competition is alive, while helping the encyclopedia is the ultimate aim. Though unrelated to the WikiCup, these may well be of interest to some of you.

Just a reminder of the rules; if you have done significant work on content this year and it is promoted in this round, you may claim for it. Also, anything that was promoted after the end of round one but before the beginning of round two may be claimed for in round two. Details of the rules can be found on this page. For those interested in statistics, a running total of claims can be seen here, and a very interesting table of that information (along with the highest scorers in each category) can be seen here. Good luck! Trade dollar

Hi Niagara. I'm having trouble finding another image, this time a U.S. trade dollar. Do you have one that you have photographed?-RHM22 (talk) 14:41, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
