San Diego Highwayman

You may want to chime in on this discussion. Bovlb (talk) 05:09, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

NE2, a few months ago you indicated some POV concerns about Louisville, Colorado. I began a discussion about them on the talk page a couple of weeks later. Another editor, User:Brainerror138 had some concrete suggestions for repair, and yet another user, Aetheling (talk), has attempted to fix all of these problems. To date, no one else has evaluated the article, or commented one way or the other. Brainerror seems no longer to be contributing. Could you please revisit the article and, if you think the issue has been resolved, remove the NPOV flag?

Thanks! -- Ken g6 (talk) 18:12, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

NE2, we are still hoping you can revisit the POV flag that you placed on the Louisville article someday soon. —Aetheling (talk) 17:09, 29 February 2008 (UTC).

Huh? I posted on the talk page... --NE2 17:17, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

WT:USRD and CASH state law

Image:E-470.svg

I recently uploaded the shield for E-470 at the Commons; an svg image using Inkscape as you told me some time ago. Something is wrong with it as you can see. Why is it that on Inkscape, the numbers are okay, but when the image is uploaded, it appears as a blank white rectangle instead? If you know how, can you tell me how to fix that on Inkscape, or do it by yourself if you prefer it that way? ^_^ AL2TB ^_^ 05:54, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Oh, thanks for saying the SVG was good. For the SVG, the only thing I really need to work on is making the typeface bold, as it normally appears on all E-470 shields. I'll do that as soon as I have time (most likely during President's Day weekend.) But again, thanks. :) ^_^ AL2TB ^_^ 01:38, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Although it took me many attempts, I've finally uploaded a newer version of Image:E-470.svg. How is this? 04:23, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I'll fix that as soon as I have more time. ^_^ AL2TB ^_^ 04:31, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

About that image E-470.svg

I remember you told me that the image E-470.svg is copyrighted, but it can still be uploaded to Wikipedia under the non-free images category, right? ^_^ AL2TB ^_^ 00:54, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Inkscape

Oh, and for future reference, could you give me steps on how to convert any text into paths? (That is, if that's okay with you.) ^_^ AL2TB ^_^ 00:54, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

I removed your requests because it seems that you have not added a rationale for your requests and it's been more than 20 hours already. Please don't add something to the deletion review unless you are ready to present your case. I would also suggest that when your ready, readd the deletion review case to the current date, as I think it is also in your interest for the deletion review to run its full course, as it should. Yamamoto Ichiro 会話 05:06, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Ah, Thanks for clarifying. I think the reason that nobody commented on the deletion review so far is probably because the nomination statement was rather vague and probably there were other people who have interpreted your statement the way I did. I would probably still recommend a renom under the current date just to make sure that other people understand what your trying to say in a full 5-day period. Yamamoto Ichiro 会話 05:13, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Actually it occurred to me that I don't think you even need to run those images through DRV if your goal is to recreate rather than undelete, as it is probably just faster and easier that way. If you can address the issues to why the images were deleted in the first place I don't think it is necessary, unless you really think having the deleted history is helpful. Yamamoto Ichiro 会話 05:20, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Ok, I have uploaded the deleted images to a third party image host. [1] and [2]. Hopefully this helps. Yamamoto Ichiro 会話 07:05, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Triple Crown

I think you might be eligible to be nominated for a Triple Crown. WP:CROWN details the requirements, but in brief for each TC set awarded, an editor needs to lay claim to a DYK, a GA article and a piece of featured content (FA article, feature photo, etc). I know you qualify with many DYKs, and I'm sure you qualify on the others. I can help you with the nomination if you'd like. --Imzadi1979 (talk) 19:12, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Oh and another thing. I also got a decent picture of downtown Sacramento taken from the U.S. Route 50 in California/Interstate 305 (California) bridge over Interstate 5 and the American River. If you are interested, I' will upload to commons. I also noted that at the CA88/89 junction, the control cities are listed as Woodfords/Marlkeville to the west and Kirkwood/Jackson to the east. the CA49/US50 junction in Placerville lists Columa and Gold Run. I couldn't see the ones southbound due to construction.Davemeistermoab (talk) 05:17, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Dubai: Is it a road or a highway?

You added {{HWY}} to several articles about roadways in Dubai. I removed them on the basis that "the road is not a highway and does not fall under WikiProject Highways." Then, you reverted that change by saying "This is a highway." I will agree that D 75 is a highway (although only part of it can be considered a highway). But, for D 85 and D 92 I still disagree with you. They are just normal arterial streets and are not considered highways. I think {{HWY}} should be removed from their respective talk pages. But, before we begin an edit war, we should discuss the issue. I would be interested to know your reasoning for calling D 85 and D 92 highways. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 22:45, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

I made a mistake. I thought that WikiProject Highways was only about highways, and not roads. After your message on my talk page, I decided to go to the project page to see what the scope of the project is. I read that the project is "about highways, including freeways, expressways, throughways, and other major forms of road." Now I have no argument against using {{HWY}} on the articles I mentioned. Sorry about the trouble. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 04:41, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Stop the edit warring, please. Continuing to do so could result in page protection or blocking of your account. Please use the talk page to reach consensus for changes that others disagree with. - Rjd0060 (talk) 01:46, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

There's already consensus at WP:LEAD#Bold title. See Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Highways 2/Proposed decision#Guidelines. --NE2 01:49, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
It does not matter that somebody is right; It is still a content dispute, and edit warring solves nothing. - Rjd0060 (talk) 01:50, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Then how would you suggest applying said general guidelines? --NE2 01:52, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Have you tried talking with the user on a talk page? - Rjd0060 (talk) 01:53, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Roads in Maryland#<national highway> in Maryland articles --NE2 01:57, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

(unindent) Ah, sorry, I missed that. Well, if there is a clear consensus and this user is going against it, revert warring isn't appropriate. In the future, I'd recommend making a note at WP:ANI. - Rjd0060 (talk) 01:58, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

I thought blocking was only for vandalism and edit warring (which applies to both sides)? --NE2 02:01, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
I've warned you both to stop reverting. Even if you are reverting to a consensus version of a page, it is unacceptable to revert-war. - Rjd0060 (talk) 02:03, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
I'm asking what admins would be able to do if I took it to ANI. It's not vandalism, so they can't block for that, and since each side does the same number of reverts, a block for revert warring would be hypocritical. --NE2 02:06, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Although you are reverting to a consensus version of a page, you cannot edit war. The key is that you seem to have a consensus for the version that you are reverting to. Just don't revert anymore, k? - Rjd0060 (talk) 02:08, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
So how can I implement the guideline if AL2TB insists on ignoring it? --NE2 02:09, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Dispute resolution is something you can explore. Also, if he continues, leave a note at WP:ANI like I said, and be sure to link the discussions which show the consensus. - Rjd0060 (talk) 02:11, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
And what would ANI do? They can't block for vandalism, since it's not, and if they blocked for edit warring I'd be blocked too. --NE2 02:12, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Don't edit war, and you won't be blocked. You haven't technically violated WP:3RR yet. - Rjd0060 (talk) 02:14, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Don't edit war, and the guideline doesn't get implemented. What other option do I have? --NE2 02:16, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
This is a spot where Wikipedia does lack a guideline - what to do when editors make good-faith edits that damage the encyclopedia. --Rschen7754 (T C) 02:20, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

(unindent) I'm not sure what else to say, that I haven't said already. Take my suggestion and do not revert anymore. If he continues going against a consensus version, make a report at WP:ANI. It will be taken care of. - Rjd0060 (talk) 02:18, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

I'm asking how it will be taken care of. What will be done about it? --NE2 02:19, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Okay. I've taken a closer look at this entire situation, and a number of ongoing discussions. There are a number of things going on here, pertaining to a content dispute relating to manual of style problems. I will not comment on the dispute itself, however, I will reiterate if you continue to edit war (i.e. violation of WP:3RR), no matter "who is right", you will both be blocked for that edit warring. I invite you both to continue discussion in a civil manner. - Rjd0060 (talk) 02:30, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Opening dates for Staten Island Railway stations

Hey NE2, number1 here. Listen, now that work on the SIR stations is about to commence, one thing that we're missing which is really important is opening dates. I'm actually surprised that the NYC Subway Resource Site doesn't list the opening dates for the SIR stations. The only station that has a known opening date is the RCB Ballpark station, which opened in 2001, but will need the others. This will be much appreciated. Sorry, I should have been clearer. What criteria are you using to decide what articles have ELs that need attention? Stratosphere|Talk 04:48, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Nah, the paramaters and their usage is clear. Basically you tagged some Michigan articles, my guess would be because they use directional banners and scaps template. Aside from that there isn't anything wrong with them and I don't think you need to be tagging many of them. Stratosphere|Talk 04:54, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Wantagh Parkway-NY 135 Extension Image

See my reply to User talk:Rodhullandemu. ----DanTD (talk) 15:54, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

You can say that an image can be made, but if they're not being made, and are not available, then they should be kept until a replacement is available. The link you gave me to those old maps back in January 2008 are great, and I appreciate them, but they don't have everything. They don't have the proposed Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway extension to Wantagh Parkway, or the Wantagh Parkway extension to the Long Island Expressway, or the Bethpage State Parkway extension to Northern State Parkway, including it's interchange with the L.I.E. or the former intechanges on the LIE with Glen Cove Road(full-cloverleaf), NY 25(same-direction exits), NY 107(without the south-to-west ramp) NY 110(full-cloverleaf) Sagtikos State Parkway(full cloverleaf without collective-distributor roads) or Wick's Road(diamond interchange with westbound ramps leading to Long Island Motor Parkway on both sides). The images that I've uploaded in the past do have them, and that's why those should've been kept, and the same goes for this one. Also, that link doesn't have the Cedar Beach Spur of the formerly proposed extension of County Route 83 (Suffolk County, New York). ----DanTD (talk) 16:21, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
"Why would we need evidence?" Why not ask all the people who tag articles demanding that we cite reliable sources(who by the way are far too stingy about what constitutes a "reliable source!")? ----DanTD (talk) 16:28, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
"Non-free content is used only where no free equivalent is available, or could be created, that would serve the same encyclopedic purpose." Show me where a free equivalent is available. That's what I've been asking. ----DanTD (talk) 16:34, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

The sentence you wrote down was only in the fair-use tag. When that image goes, so does the sentence. As for citing the source, they used this in a lot of editions of that map, so citing one is going to be more difficult than it would seem. ----DanTD (talk) 16:39, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

The damn thing was in pieces, and that image is from one of them. For all I know, it could've been made anywhere between 1973 and 1986. I can scan the sentence you wrote in the fair-use tag and add it to the article. ----DanTD (talk) 16:57, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks so much! I've mostly just been going off the PDF files from the renumbering at WSDOT. (I found the actual links too just a day or two ago, just hadn't gotten around to fixing that yet. Which reminds me, thanks for your help with the links on the page, too. It's going to be an ongoing project -- taking a lot longer than I thought.) The PDF files are enough for making the table, but this will go a long way towards expanding the text. At some point I want to write an actual History of state highways in Washington, and it will be good to have this as an actual source. Highways of Washington State is great, but an actual reliable source would be so much better. :-) -- Kéiryn 20:37, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
