Regarding the archiving of Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Disney

I see that bot MisaBot is responsible for archiving Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Disney. However, I honestly feel as though the way in which it is archiving the page is a malfunction. Rather than separating all of the archives into separate archive pages, it is archiving all entries onto the same page. Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Disney/Archive_1 is getting huge with 146 separate sections on the day I wrote this; the main talk page Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Disney only has about 5 separate sections. Something is wrong with this picture. I don't know how long this bot has been archiving this page, so I thought I'd give you a heads up before and see the truth. Otherwise, I fear the bot might need to be reported as malfunctioning. Steel1943 (talk) 00:21, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Something strange going on there. The archive size was set for 70K but the page has exceeded that number to about 149K. I manually changed the counter in the bot code from 1 to 2 which should start a new page the next time it archives. Brad (talk) 01:50, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Silly me for not checking. The archive size was originally set for 190K which is crazy large. However, it was changed to 70K before you posted here. All should be well now. Brad (talk) 01:56, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

The Technical Barnstar
Your MiszaBots are amazing! I used to archive my talk page manually on my old Wikipedia account, so I really appreciate having such reliable and regular bots archiving my talk pages on both Wikipedia and Commons. Thanks so much for all your hard work that makes it happen! Michael Barera (talk) 19:24, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikinews Importer Bot

I was wondering why when the bot updates this page, it always use double bullet points even though the source which the bot obtains the information only use single bullet. OhanaUnitedTalk page 04:19, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Village pump discussion

Hi Misza13. There's a discussion at the village pump right now on whether the MiszaBots can add the capability to fix links to archived content (the ClueBots already do this). Thanks! David1217 What I've done 16:13, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Olympics

Please could you check Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Olympics which doesn't seem to have been archived for some time. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:00, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Last archive was about July 5th. It seems that part of the bot code went missing since then. %(counter)d was missing the d. It should work the next time the bot passes by; I have it watch listed. Brad (talk) 14:10, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please ignore this, I neglected to kill the "notify page creator" option while consolidating archives and nominating the redundant pages for speedy deletion. Safiel (talk) 04:11, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Talk page not archiving

G'day, sorry to trouble you. I recently added mark up to Talk:Battle of Long Tan to have it archived by MiszaBotI. I think I must have done it incorrectly, though. I was expecting it to archive shortly afterwards, but it doesn't seem to have happened. I understand that you are busy, but if you get a chance, would you mind taking a look and letting me know what I've done wrong? Cheers, AustralianRupert (talk) 13:45, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

From the looks of posting frequency I didn't see much reason for a bot to be set. A lot of the conversation was 5-6 years ago. I manually archived everything except the last four threads and removed the bot code. If the page suddenly becomes more active the bot could be added then. Brad (talk) 14:20, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Seems like a good solution, thanks. AustralianRupert (talk) 08:44, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  1. Why did the bot move contents to Talk:Book of Deuteronomy/Archive 4 instead of to Talk:Book of Deuteronomy/archive1?
  2. The section titled "References" should have been moved together with the other stuff (it refers to section titled "Yahweh and Israel"). -- -- -- 21:44, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Bot was setup incorrectly to start at 4 instead of 1. Section not archived because it did not contain a time stamp. Archives fixed and bot adjusted to more realistic settings. Brad (talk) 22:37, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. -- -- -- 22:45, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Split talk page archives

Hi,

The bot started User talk:Aymatth2/Archive 6 on 4 May 2012, but since then has been putting some stuff in User talk:Aymatth2/Archive 5, some in User talk:Aymatth2/Archive 6, with no obvious pattern. Maybe I did something that threw it out. Merging the overlap is completely unimportant to me, but is there a way to tell the bot to just use Archive 6+ from now on? Thanks, Aymatth2 (talk) 03:05, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I changed the bot counter to 6. It should have changed itself to 6 after 5 became full but for whatever reason didn't. You can delete any overlap if you want to. Brad (talk) 13:27, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that. There is no real overlap, but from May onward the archived items alternate between 5 and 6. My guess is the bot would have two items to archive, add the first to 5, realize the archive was full, so add the second to 6. The counter was stuck at 5, so the same would happen next time. Thanks again, Aymatth2 (talk) 13:49, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not archiving

MiszaBot III hasen't been archiving my talk page for quite a while. Any idea why, or is it a bug? LikeLakers2 (talk | Sign my guestbook!) 12:52, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The only thing I could think of was to move the bot code to the top of the page. You're using an unusual archiving method so I didn't want to upset the cart. Misza bots have been temperamental the past few months and Misza13 is mostly absent. Brad (talk) 20:01, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bot thread count

Just thought I'd point this out, more as a matter of interest, rather than a concern. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_American_football/Archive_1&action=history Note the first and only edit summary reads Robot: Archiving 101 threads from Wikipedia talk:WikiProject American football. Yet if you check the new Archive, there are actually 102 threads. Not sure why a bot would miscount, even by one out, might be a trivial bug, but probably best to let you know just incase you need to investigate. More eyes

...requested to see why Talk:Ronald Reagan won't archive. Also, this user's talk page where the bot had been working. Cheers,

No evident solution for those two pages. I'll take a shot at contacting Misza13 by email to see if the "Skipping Pages Syndrome" can be fixed. Brad (talk) 21:39, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
