Hey

Machang Esala Perahera and Esala Mangallaya are the same thing aren't they? I wrote the Esala Perahera article without knowing about the other one. Shall we merge the 2? --snowolfD4( talk / @ ) 15:22, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I take back accusation that I thought you were Arsath, I know one of you did all the SP's ( I still don’t know who) but now I am sure you and Arsath are not the same, I don’t know how the system snagged both of you wrongly in that mess. :-( I am sorry. Is there is a way for you to resplve it once and for all, I will support such an dendevour. I know I cant apologize to Arsath because he is not active :-) RaveenS 21:40, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I knew you all will realise that one day . Another one of my confirmed sockpuppet is finishing his MSc this year, and eventhough he is blocked right now, he will be back contributing to the work. Like Arsath said in the arbcomm checkuser is the bullest procedure adopted in the Wikipedia. Not only Arsath, but also User:Ajgoonewardene who has not even violated wp:sock. That poor guy got blocked as one of my sockpuppets just because he was a user of the Sri Lanka Telecom. Somewhere in Wikipedia I mentioned some stuff about Prabha's and Thamil Chelvam's children and I got that part by going through this edit[1] plus the smileys produced by Arsath are awesome too. See how easily we are losing good contributors here? I swear to god, that me and Mystic haven't met in Wikipedia before that TfD started. Anywayz, Thanks a lot for offering to help me to get out of this mess pal, but so far I haven't found a way to resolve this checkuser issue. But if this goes on continuing, Wikipedia will definitely have to adopt an alternative to checkuser procedures --♪♫ ĽąĦĩŘǔ ♫♪ walkie-talkie 06:32, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Assasinations of LTTE members attributed to Sri Lankan government, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. snowolfD4( talk / @ ) 16:20, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also I'll go through it and try to fix any grammar / wording problems when I'm done with the Sri Lankan Civil War article. Fair use rationale for Image:20061016 02.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:20061016 02.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jkelly 22:10, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't completely understand Fair use rationale, but adding a second boilerplate fair use template likely does not satisfy the requirements. Please try reading these two articles and ask Jkelly if they don't make sense to you. ~ BigrTex 14:02, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It is not at all obvious to me that there is an appropriate Wikipedia:Fair use claim here. It looks very much like we are just illustrating an article with unfree content. Given that the photography itself is not being discussed, this does not appear to be any reason, beyond our own convenience, to republish this photograph. Jkelly 17:06, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Lahiru! I googled Sarath Fonseka and found the article on him at army.lk. I think something should be done about the WP article because it is too similar to the one at the army site, which I think is against WP policy. Cheers, Krankman 15:26, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for trying to clean up the format of the discussion that's going on in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rajkumar Kanagasingam. However, the formatting that you did put my comment into the wrong place. Because of this, we know that at least one part of the discussion was put out of order by the reformatting. It's possible that other parts of the discussion were put out of order, as well, since people use the indenting to show to whom they're replying. I reverted your edit, not because I think you were acting in bad faith, but because one shouldn't do that kind of reformatting unless one is absolutely certain that that it's correct. Thank you for making the attempt, though. LastChanceToBe 09:13, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Machan, there is only one version of national anthem and it is in Sinhalese.Since we are editing in english wikipedia I don't mind having the English translation but there shouldn't be any other non-existing(officially) versions .If you take india for an example, there are hundreds of languages in india BUT their national anthem is in Bengali.. Vandalism?

You removed a contribution that included specific references from a section that specifically asked for refences with this request: "Some information in this section is not attributed to sources and may not be reliable. Please check for inaccuracies, and modify and cite sources as needed."

What is the vandalism, which you claim to have seen & removed?

You are hasty. When somebody has taken the time to make a contribution have the common courtesy to (1) let them finish it & (2) give them a chance to respond before considering removal.

Thank you for arising that question. I warned you on 20:35. So it means I warned you to your last immediate edit. Fair use rationale for Image:STF on mission.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:STF on mission.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Could you please see these articles,

Thank you,

Sinhala alphabet

Hi Lahiru, thanks for your offer and great that you like the page. One thing where I could need your help would be photos of Sinhala script in "real life". We have that murder letter now, but the resolution is too low, and there is not enough detail. If you could come across something like [8] or [9] with an acceptable licence, that would be great. Maybe a picture of a newspaper stand with Sinhala papers or sth like that. Unfortunately, I won't get to Sri Lanka very soon, so that it would really be great if you could find such a picture. Jasy jatere 11:25, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much, Lahiru. The Che image is much better than the old one. We should add some good caption to explain what the main poster is about. Private school or sth like that? Can you provide a translation for
deeshapaalana vidyaava jayaseena beligala ?
Jasy jatere 15:44, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot. I think we should not put more translations in the caption, though, because this will distract to much Jasy jatere 16:14, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
the poster is better than newspapers, so no need for that. Sigiriya would still be nice, of course. Jasy jatere 16:40, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for Image:Srilanka-police 06.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Srilanka-police 06.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Everything I added to the Robbie Farah page is 100% accurate.

If you weren't so pig headed, you might've known this.

Don't tell me what I added is non sense, if you knew anything about rugby league, you'd know it was all accurate. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 211.30.109.145 (talk) 16:34, 7 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Sigiriya image

Thanks, Lahiru, for finding that image. It would illustrate an early form of Sinhala very well. Unfortunately, I think we will not be allowed to use it.

NOTE: The following conditions must not include terms which restrict usage to educational or not-for-profit purposes or prohibit derivatives. Please list this image for deletion if they do. {{CopyrightedFreeUseProvidedThat|1. All users of this image are required to attribute this work to Richard Baxter, photographer, with a link to http://www.travelblog.org/Photos/227013.html. 2. Posted on http://www.travelblog.org/Photos/227013.html and contacted the author via e mail and he said;

Thanks for your enquiry. In principle I have no problem as long as you are not using the image for profit and the license does not allow people to reuse it for profit. As long as these conditions apply feel free to use it and attribute with my name. Best Wishes Richard Baxter

Expulsion of Muslims from Jaffna

What is the above page about?!? "ALL of the women were raped... creating bastards" ... please remove such innapropriate speculation. Orphaned fair use image (Image:Czech RM70 01.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Czech RM70 01.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 03:44, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Lahiru k,

Firstly, my apologies for the delay in progress on this case, as explained at Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Sri Lankan Civil War.

I am writing to you because, as a party to this case, your input is required before mediation can begin, to do with an offer by an experienced non-Committee member to mediate. Please see the Parties' agreement to WJBscribe's offer section and provide your input, so that this case can progress. Voting will remain open for seven days, and further elaboration is provided at that link.

Hello, Lahiru k. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:CMCLogo.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Lahiru k/Userboxes. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 21:55, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again, firstly sum1 kept chnging the "expulsion of muslins from Jaffna" article, so i just cleaned that up a little, but would apprecitae it greatly if you could look at it.

ALso on the "List of terrorist attacks by LTTE", would the bombing of the military base at colombo not be a "notable attack" instead, since they were attacking a military institution, and the sri lankan government were already regularly sending kfir jets to bomb ltte positions? thanks. regarding the recent edit, the website simply quotes passages from the book, thus is a reliable source as far as the book is concerned. Why was this removed? Thanks Thusiyan 16:25, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I was going to nominate this template for deletion when I saw the temp part. Do you want this template to stay or is it just (temp)orary? It's not used on any articles, plus as an image tag, it is not free enough for wikipedia. It asks for attribution which is ok, but it doesn't specify if you can modify the images coming from that source. So if it will go up on Wikipedia:Templates for deletion it will almost certainly be deleted. Garion96 (talk) 22:29, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
