[edit]

Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election are opening in a few hours (00:01 UTC on 1 September). A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next coordination year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting doesn't commence until 15 September. Correction to previous election announcement

[edit]

Just a quick correction to the prior message about the 2022 MILHIST coordinator election! I (Hog Farm) didn't proofread the message well enough and left out a link to the election page itself in this message. The voting will occur here; sorry about the need for a second message and the inadvertent omission from the prior one. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 17:41, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I was blocked a while ago, I believe in 2022, because I created a hoax article. The article was an article that I was actually instructed to create by my instructor for an ethics in computer science course about a friend of his - the idea was to see how long it would take for the article to get taken down. In hindsight this was a bad idea, and I totally understand that I shouldn't have done this and perhaps told the professor that this is unprofessional. However, I am kindly asking that since it has been a few years -- a lifetime block is very harsh for this. I am in many history groups, I created images that are seen by millions https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Stalingrad cover photo and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_France cover photo for example. I have never made any vandalism on articles actually seen by users. The article I was banned for was an article seen by 0 users except for Admins checking on new articles. I believe that it was honestly an abuse of power. The last time I was asked to unblocked kindly, explaining the circumstances, the Admin shut me down fully and basically called me an idiot, totally disregarding the thousands of edits I had made over years for 1 small mistake. I am happy that Wikipedia has made BAN APPEALS PUBLIC since then. I am currently an engineer at a large Software company and would like to keep contributing to tech articles and history articles as they are my passions. Thank you.

Decline reason:

An abuse of power?!? You deliberately maliciously disrupted the project. There's no abuse of power in blocking you to prevent you continuing. There is a path forward but not when you take this approach. Perhaps reread WP:GAB. Yamla (talk) 09:31, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
