Gower Gulch

[edit]

My first comment is that it's not really an Old West article as much as a "Hollywood history" article. Anyway, I believe that Gower is just the name of the street. Off the top my head, the name Gower isn't derived from something else notable. "Drugstore cowboy" is now a recognized phrase in the English language because there was a Gus Van Sant movie by that name, but it doesn't really mean anything. The article is talking about how the movie cowboys would hang out at the drugstore, and people started calling them "drugstore cowboys" I think as a contrast to the idea of a Cigar store Indian, in regards to "Cowboys and Indians." Does that make any sense at all? Ping me back if you have more questions!! jengod 20:52, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List of castles in France

[edit]

Thanks for your additions to the List of castles in France page, and for some useful edits to some of my castles pages. I have taken Abbadie and Woolsack from the list because they are not real castles - we are restricting the list to what in English is called a castle (château-fort in French, rather than the wider meaning of château). If you know of any other castles that can be added, please do so - I have a list I have been working on at User:Emeraude/To Do. Emeraude 16:14, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The clickable map is the work of User:Kaustuv. You should be able to copy it and paste it into the French page. I'm sure he won't mind. Emeraude 23:11, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Makhila

[edit]

Hello and thank you for the picture of the Makhila. I was curious though, how long is the stick depicted in the picture? I created the English page for this unique item but information has been difficult to come by.Legitimus (talk) 13:13, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I had indeed heard of Ainciart-Bergara, and being a collector I gladly would purchase one from them, but sadly they don't seem to have an ordering method on their website, and I live a world away. That, and I do not speak a word of French nor Basque. Do you by chance know how height and weight is used to determine the length? Legitimus (talk) 17:32, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Duel of the Mignons

[edit]

What an odd footnote to history! Anyway, I've got a question at Talk:The Duel of the Mignons, which you might be best able to answer, concerning the point of the article. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 11:47, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply. I'm going to redirect it back to the main article, without prejudice for a future article on the topic. If you come across good sources for the event you might add them to aid anyone interested in pursuing it. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 22:00, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your meadow

Thank you for uploading this atmospheric image. I've adorned my talkpage with it for midsummer, to give the strongest possible impression of a lazy administrator smelling the flowers. :-) Bishonen | talk 19:32, 19 June 2015 (UTC).[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Pérès, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Péré (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
