Microformat on Template:Infobox_Company

[edit]

Is there any reason why you removed the class="fn org" mark-up from {{Infobox Company}}? Andy Mabbett | Talk to Andy Mabbett 13:35, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jamcib, stop changing Template:Infobox Company. It removes images from all of the infoboxes that simply uses "logo" instead of "company logo". Many of the articles listed in the category you pointed to actually do have images, but because of your change, they are not appearing. This causes them to be tagged for deletion as orphaned fair use imagesby BetacommandBot. STOP changing the template. - auburnpilot talk 14:07, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Shun Saint Seiya.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Shun Saint Seiya.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Orphaned non-free media (Image:MU Gold Saint.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MU Gold Saint.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Vitaly Scherbo editing

[edit]

Jamcib, welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for all of your interest and revisions on pages such as Vitaly Scherbo. However, you made many, many edits, and you made them one at a time. If you want to only do one at a time, please use the "show preview" bar and don't use the "save page" bar until you have made all the edits you want to make. The point is to save the page as few times as possible and not have other editors and users have to click the history for every single change you make - because that actually creates lots of problems. If you take a look at the "history" tab for the Vitaly Scherbo article, you will see that you made 40 different edits in just 1 hour and 15 minutes' time (from 15 September 2008 at 20:54 to 15 September 2008 at 22:09). Everybody understands if you make just a few edits (3 or 4 or 5) during that time because we all make mistakes and we don't always see a mistake until after we save a page. But to do it 40 times in 1 hour and 15 minutes is way outside of protocol.

Companies portal

[edit]

Does {{tl:Companies portal}} really need to be added to virtually every business related article and category? Also you are not including an edit comment when you make this change. I don't believe that this really belongs in every article and category you are including it in. Vegaswikian (talk) 18:49, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All of the many subcategories of Category:Companies are not major companies. Also, while they may technically be incorporated as subdivisions of the parent company, most airlines are not really thought of as companies. They are first and foremost an airline and the article probably does not even mention the actual company name. The same point holds true for many brand based articles. I really think that what you are doing is overkill. Vegaswikian (talk) 21:00, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think you are overdoing it. Other portals have been added but not to the extent you are doing. Let me take the case of a company located in Vegas that makes cars. How many portals does that article need? Off hand I could see one for the state, one for Vegas, one for companies, one for manufacturing, one for cars and maybe a few more. I see no problem using these are major articles or categories, but anything else seems to be overkill. In my example that would be 5 or more portals for this one article. Does that really seem necessary? Vegaswikian (talk) 21:22, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of 2008 in economics

[edit]

A tag has been placed on 2008 in economics requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Algebraist 16:22, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Vehicle manufacturing companies of the United States‎

[edit]

Did you empty this category out? If so that is a violation of process. If you want to remove a category, you need to bring it to WP:CFD and discuss the reasons for doing so there BEFORE you empty a category. 18:55, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:Chemical companies of China, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:Chemical companies of China has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:Chemical companies of China, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. A tag has been placed on 2009 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader.

Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. Better source request for File:Ikki Saint Seiya.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ikki Saint Seiya.png. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:32, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. Formatting

[edit]

Dear user: Jamcib~enwiki,

I made changes to the formatting of this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Companies/Index_by_industry/Sub while alphabetizing the list of industries. In hindsight, I should have stayed away from the formatting as I am not familiar with the kind of formatting you've used. If you don't like the edits I've made, please do reverse them. No hard feelings from my end.
