Happy New Year!
There are things that are sometimes left undone and there are things that can be left sometimes unsaid. There are things that can be sometimes left unsaid, but wishing someone like you can’t ever be left, so I take this moment to wish you and your loved ones a joyous and wonderful New Year. Hello! Your submission of Kashibai at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know!

Long story short, the hook's a little too complicated, particularly given the awkward family dynamics (first wife, second wife, etc) which is a little hard to get across in a short hook. Adam Cuerden (talk) 04:18, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2016: Game On!

[edit]

We are about to enter the second week of the 2016 WikiCup. The most recent player to sign up brings the current total to 101 contestants. Signups close on 5 February. If you’re interested, you can join this year's WikiCup here.

We are aware that in some areas the scoring bot’s numbers are a little bit off (i.e., overly generous) and are working to have that corrected as soon as possible.--MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:04, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Why removed other stuff

[edit]

Why have you removed other stuff from Aakash Talwar? This doesn't mean that for all the shows, we need reliable sources. Take the example of Mugdha Chaphekar. Take an another example Gaurav Chopra. There are only two sources in the article, while that person has done various shows. Please replace the removed stuff into it. ЖunalForYou ☎️📝 05:06, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have read the policy. The policy says that the user on Wikipedia must check whether the source added in any article is reliable or not. There is no mention that every information must have a reliable source. ЖunalForYou ☎️📝 05:55, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
First line; "In Wikipedia, verifiability means that anyone using the encyclopedia can check that the information comes from a reliable source". I removed stuff that I could not verify coming from any RS. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 06:00, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Kashibai

[edit]

The inaccuracy with her dance sequence and costumes in song Pinga is the subject matter of the film and not her article. Use at least little bit of sense. See Cultural depictions of Abraham Lincoln for examples. His depictions/portrayals in the media is only mentioned, and its obvious. The analysis of a character is for the film article and not the character. We always just put a line that "This person was portrayed in the film by this and the film was released then and then". I hope you understood what I mean to say.Krish | Talk 19:33, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Both: Will he ever learn? After making a series of personal attacks against a particular user (who assumed good faith towards him) and the administrator, he has come up with this. I had to assume good faith here although I was aware of these: [1], [2]. As SpacemanSpiff said, I think WP:ARBIP would be more appropriate at this stage. One of Adam Cuerden’s several quality restorations during round 1

That's it, the first round is done, sign-ups are closed and we're into round 2. Forty-seven competitors move into this round (a bit shy of the expected 64), and we are roughly broken into eight groups of six. The top two of each group will go through to round 3, and then the top scoring 16 "wildcards" across all groups.

Twenty-two Good Articles were submitted, including three by Connecticut Cyclonebiskit (submissions), and two each by Denmark MPJ-DK (submissions), Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions), Florida 12george1 (submissions), and New South Wales Cas Liber (submissions). Twenty-one Featured Pictures were claimed, including 17 by There's always time for skeletons Adam Cuerden (submissions) (the Round 1 high scorer). Thirty-one contestants saw their DYKs appear on the main page, with a commanding lead (28) by Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions). Twenty-nine participants conducted GA reviews with Lancashire J Milburn (submissions) completing nine.

If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Why have you removed my edits from page Pavitra Rishta? In-house awards are also awards. Also, I have added reliable sources with them. What is the point in removing them? It is sheer vandalism. You should have checked I added source from Hindustantimes.com which mentions specifically about the show getting Seoul International Drama Award for Special Jury Award. Even I added the source of the event's official site which clearly mentions the show in its 2010 winners Isn't it reliable enough? Okay, I'll not add the Xplore International Drama Award (there are no reliable sources supporing them but Zee Rishtey Awards are imporant awards in Indian Television Industry. Why can't I add them on the page if I have reliable sources supporting them? You should check which material is unsourced or badly sourced and which material is reliably sourced before removing it. Shouldn't you do this? There is another page called List of accolades received by Kasautii Zindagii Kay in which not even a single source provided is reliable and only badly sourced content is present throughout. You can check yourself. That list is full of In-house and imaginary Awards and these too without a good source. Why don't you remove them? It's my humble request. And please do have a look on the article List of accolades received by Kasautii Zindagii Kay. Thank you once again.

In my recent edits, have added the new film that Riteish Deshmukh is doing - Banjo along with Nargis Fakhri, but you seems to have removed it. Also the article on Akshay Oberoi encompasses his journey in Bollywood so far, why has that been edited out. My humble request, kindly read the articles before pulling them off. thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Creative gossip (talkcontribs) 12:36, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Provocation

[edit]

Dharmadhyaksha, I'm still keeping an eye on the Kashibai article, following the ANI thread a few days ago. It looks like Krish! is holding his tongue. You, however, are not. My comment on the ANI thread about civility applies to you too, comments such as calling the editor a "fanboy", or "You need to complete your studies. For our sake. You were not pinged in that message because i knew it would not be easy for you to comprehend it. LOL. will get you blocked. Stop it. WormTT(talk) 13:10, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Worm That Turned: He is a self-claimed fan of PC. That’s one difference for evidence and there are plenty on talk pages of his and other people here and there. I don't think he should selectively take "fanboy" as offensive at times and on other times boast about it on his pages.
At ANI you stated that Krish has stopped his behaviour after your note on 1st May. These things "I'm sure you have a movie of Kashibai from that era on your Laptop and you surely know how she acted, walked and talked with her family. Kindly tell us." and "This is no way neutral and adding the neagtives and removing positives? What an Idea? LOL." and "Do one favour, why don't you show the worls, the video you have of Kashibai' walking, talking and working from that era? You have right? Because you are beahaving the way like you have seen her and she didnt look anything like the film's character. LOL this is so funny, just because you think her personality would be different from the film, you are stretching this discussion?" are post your note and are not civil or non-provocative in any nature.
Just because I can't boast of GAs/FAs/FLs or make hysterical dramas with bold block letters I should not be prone to PAs. I am least interested in this fellow and promise to stay away from all articles he has ever edited even if the articles are wrong in whatsoever matter. I have been discussing IBAN with SpacemanSpiff but he and RegentsPark don't think it effectively works. Well... the Wiki imposed one might not work, but my self-imposed one surely would. Tell other editors also to follow the suit who have no better experience of this fellow. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 04:52, 5 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
"Fan" and "fanboy" are very different words Dharmadhyaksha. The latter has many connotations and is considered derogatory, perhaps have a look at Wikipedia's article to see what I mean - Fan_(person)#Fanboy. He moved from commenting on the contributor to commenting on the argument, which is at a core of our civility policy. Provocative, maybe, but there was always going to be a disagreement. You need to ensure that you're not commenting on the contributor, as you were in diffs I highlighted.
Now, I don't disagree with the idea of an interaction ban. They're not great, for the reasons mentioned there, but if you're actively trying to remove yourself from the argument, I'd be happy to help you with that. If he's not letting you move away, let me know. WormTT(talk) 10:44, 5 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for offering help. But if I have decided to stay away I don't think anyone can force me to not do it. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 03:42, 6 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Exclusive interviews

[edit]

No matter how reliable a news site may be, exclusive interviews conducted by it should be acceptable for use here I believe. At first you stated they cannot be, but WP:RS/CBM reads, "Comicbookmovie.com relies on user-submitted content and its use is strongly discouraged. However, many of its articles link to other sources that may be considered reliable. So consider using these sources instead. Exclusive interviews published on the website may also be considered reliable, especially if accompanied by audio or video." I therefore believe the same should apply for comparatively professional sites like Behindwoods, Idlebrain and Bollywoodlife may be used since they are controlled by officials and not fans. Padma

[edit]

Hi! You probably have already noticed there is the active Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/Padma (with Tachs as the main participant). There is also Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/Padma/P, a side effort to collect photographs from connected contributors. I just started another sub page Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/Padma/FL to track the progress on the FL front where you are most active.

It would probably take a while before the rest 11 articles (excepting the one currently at FLC) passes FL criteria and appears on the Main Page. Why not in the mean time you add the boilerplate introduction to the rest of the articles? Solomon7968 12:24, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I and User:Vivvt are working on the lists and would take them up one by one. He also has all lists in a template on his some sandbox page to keep track for featured topic status, that has all Indian honours not limited to just Padmas. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 12:44, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Solomon7968: Just so you know, we are taking each of them to DYK first and then to GA/FL/FA as applicable. As we are working only on these for now, we would certainly cover all of them in the due course of time. Two of them are at FLC for now; PB recipients (1970–79) and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna. Feel free to comment. - Vivvt (Talk) 16:16, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I hadn't realized you were also taking it to DYK (adding the boilerplate introduction to the rest of the articles makes no sense then). Thanks for all you do. Solomon7968 20:04, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You redirected this indicating, "Nothing worthy to merge, all self-published sources, redirecting." Although not notable enough to have its own article, in the context of NASSCOM the fact that this award is given is definitely worthy of mention. There is no fundamental problem merging unsourced or WP:PRIMARY sourced material into an article. WP:V should be a consideration for any material, no moreso or lessso for merged material. Has the accuracy of this content been challenged or is it likely to be challenged? Definitely not. I have merged the material to NASSCOM. I hope you take these thoughts into consideration for future deletions. If you are unable or unwilling to do the merge, the right thing to do is to just leave it or put up some merge banners. WP:NODEADLINE. ~Kvng (talk) 22:52, 17 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure how "merging unsourced" material is not a fundamental problem. Its against the 5 pillars i suppose. What you merged is fine with me. The award was already mentioned in the above section. But i would have opposed had you merged the whole list. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 13:10, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
How is merging uncited (but verifiable) material against the 5 pillars. Which pillar? ~Kvng (talk) 15:20, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
How is something verifiable if not cited? And how are cited verifiable soapboxing propagandic self-published self-alluded praises even encyclopedic? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 16:45, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It is implicitly verifiable if it is not likely to be contested or if a quick search shows that citations could be added if the material is challenged. ~Kvng (talk) 16:54, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The DYK has been pulled out here [4] after it appeared on the main page. While I could get the statistics for India for different years, I could not find the total figures for the world for the same years. Thanks.Nvvchar. 08:11, 11 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Nvvchar:, The world productions of Areca nuts for those years are as follows:ref
  • 1991 - 496,267 tonnes
  • 2012 - 1,340,932 tonnes
  • 2013 - 1,224,125 tonnes

Please behave in Good Faith for India Trade Promotion Organisation article

[edit]

Please stop continuing to add maintenance templates and removing correct citations from the India Trade Promotion Organisation article. As per Wikipedia policy, editors are suppose to work in Good Faith. Kindly note the following:

  1. I had replaced the "Failed verification" maintenance template by adding correct relevant citation link and adding details about the source (vide the Parliament Standing Committee report)
  2. I had provided link to the ITPO Annual Report for financial results of TNTPO and KTPO and these are subsidiaries of ITPO and their financial results arofficially published in ITPO Annual Report.

It is reiterated that,

  1. Please first read the article, then please read its citation properly before adding maintenance templates.
  2. Please appreciate that most of the people have real jobs and are not getting paid to contribute to Wikipedia. Still they are doing their bit for the sake of free knowledge.

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:51, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Lovely Joshi BLP proposed deletion

[edit]

Hi Dharmadhyaksha -- when you propose articles for deletion as unreferenced under the BLP policy, always remember to have a quick check of the history to make sure that references have not been removed, as appears to have happened with Lovely Joshi. Thanks! Espresso Addict (talk) 21:37, 4 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

FA image deletions

[edit]

Something is puzzling me. What is your motivation for putting dozens of images up for deletion, especially those associated with articles that have passed FAC, the most strict evaluation process on wikipedia, with those images on them? How is this helping the project, and what do you personally gain by it? Bollyjeff | talk 13:46, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I think he is blind to the fact that a picture is worth a thousand words, or is just gaming the system. Kailash29792 (talk) 14:15, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It was a personal question, not a topic discussion. You really want me to move this to the discussion page? Bollyjeff | talk 13:31, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In the meanwhile, thanks for putting the proposal of WP:ITN. Please feel free to let me know any support needed in this. I shall try to help in whatever little capacity I can. Thank you. -- Abhijeet Safai (talk) 06:58, 9 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The information of banks, open on 12th and 13th of November is not mentioned in the page. That's why it has been added. So, why the amendments made by [User:Ravinder3790] is considered to be a span? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.248.192.219 (talk) 08:35, 12 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That bit of weekend banks being open is still in the article. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 08:44, 12 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dharmadhyaksha, thank you for your welcoming message on my talk page. I need a bit of help from you. I uploaded a photo of the new 2000 and 500 rupee banknotes and I'm not sure how to fill up the copyright details like it has been done here. I'd really appreciate your help.

Proposed deletion of Tomar_Jonno

[edit]

Hi -- I received a notification that this article had been proposed for deletion on Saturday 12th November. I went in today to update some of the content on the article after reviewing the criteria for notable recordings and which I believe this meets but found the article has been deleted early, not allowing myself or anyone the given 7 days to update it. This was the debut album release of the runner-up of the biggest Bangaldeshi 'Idol' format singing contest (with a viewership in the miilions), released on a major label (an equivalent of a Tips in India), topped the then equivalent of the iTunes chart in that market and also included a hit that received heavy rotation on a national radio broadcaster. (Unrelated to this album page but just for context, he has also become one of the major playback singers in that country). Can you please tell me how to re-instate the article as the deletion shouldn't have been processed before Friday at the earliest I believe. I noted you've also proposed deletion of some of my older images and which I see and agree are no longer in line with Wiki policies (soundtrack album covers for films etc.) but for this article in question, I believe it meets the criteria and want the opportunity to update it. Thanks for your help. InternationalHit2 (talk) 20:33, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

DataDrivenNews

[edit]

Hi Dharmadhyaksha-ji From your talk page it seems you are away. Anyhow I am leaving this message. I am completely sick of opinion based, biased, paid-media and want to take Wikipedia and Wikinews to become the ultimate unbiased news sources of the future (atleast for India). Kindly see my proposal ( work in progress ) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Shashaanktulsyan/DataDrivenNews Even if the entire thing is not feasible in wikipedia in it's current form. But whatever wikipedia already is, is highly under utilized. Let us talk about it. Please share your feedback on this. Thanks Shashank Tulsyan (talk) 10:39, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Asian Paints Ltd

[edit]

On 4 December 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Asian Paints Ltd, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Asian Paints Ltd's former mascot Gattu, a mischievous boy with a paint bucket, was created by Indian cartoonist R. K. Laxman? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Asian Paints Ltd. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Asian Paints Ltd), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

I do not care about the slow or speedy deletion but for the speedy you are claiming that the article was removed earlier. But you give no evidence of that. The Banner talk 10:51, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup December newsletter: WikiCup 2017

[edit]

On 1 January 2017, WikiCup 2017 (the 10th Annual WikiCup) will begin. This year we are trying something a little different – monetary prizes.

For the WC2017 the prizes will be as follows (amounts are based in US$ and will be awarded in the form of an online Amazon gift certificate):

  • First place – $200
  • Second & Third place – $50 each
  • Category prizes – $25 per category (which will be limited to FA, FL, FP, GA, and DYK for 2017). Winning a category prize does not require making it to the final round.

Note: Monetary prizes are a one-year experiment for 2017 and may or may not be continued in the future. In order to be eligible to receive any of the prizes above, the competing Wikipedia account must have a valid/active email address.

After two years as a WikiCup judge, Figureskatingfan is stepping down. We thank her for her contributions as a WikiCup judge. We are pleased to announce that our newest judge is two-time WikiCup champion Cwmhiraeth.

The judges for the 2017 WikiCup are Godot13 (talk · contribs · email), Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), and Sturmvogel 66 (talk · contribs · email).

KUK

[edit]

can you explain why you have removed content from List of engineering colleges affiliated to Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra.Owais Khursheed (Talk to me) 11:24, 19 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

WP:NLIST, WP:V. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 11:33, 19 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@User:Dharmadhyaksha. The invidual colleges may not be notable but the topic itself is notable. KUK has 430 colleges affiliated to it and u just cut it short to 2 colleges that makes no sense because it gives the indication that kuk has only these 3 colleges affiliated to it when the reader reads Kurukshetra University.Owais Khursheed (Talk to me) 06:14, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You can write there in the article that it has 430 affiliations backing with a RS and that would indicate it sufficient enough to readers. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 06:25, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This always needs linking, and preferably conversion. Few outside South Asia know what it is, whereas most English-speaking people globally can do rough conversions between feet & metres. Johnbod (talk) 11:06, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm.... okay! But why tell me? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 11:09, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I see you are not doing it. Johnbod (talk) 12:25, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
