Philippine TV Vandal

According to User:WayKurat/Philippine TV vandal, I got the ranges 222.127.0.0/16, 124.6.0.0/16, 112.198.0.0/16, 180.194.0.0/16 and 120.28.0.0/16. Multi-IP Vandalism. Evasion of warning. Can you block them in 1 Month or 2 Weeks? Thank you. No more IP to IP hopping as prescribed by an order. --Kungfu2187 (talk) 05:32, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

Those are large (and quite busy) ranges; I'm hesitant to block them for an extended period of time. Do have any idea of the collateral damage such rangeblocks might cause (not a rhetorical question)? I'm not experienced with rangeblocks either; you may wish to ask for them at the administrator's noticeboard. Dabomb87 (talk) 17:03, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

FLC

This is your friendly fellow FL director, here to tell you that The Rambling Man and I have both supported at this FLC. That means that you'll have to make the decision on this one, when you have time. Hope all is well. Giants2008 (27 and counting) 20:31, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the update. I'll look at FLC in a day or two. Dabomb87 (talk) 03:43, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

FAS

WHen you get a chance could you please double check my update at Wikipedia:Featured article statistics and make the demoted FA log? Thanks, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 15:23, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Done. Looks good. Dabomb87 (talk) 15:57, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks very much, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 16:36, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Michele Bachmann

You may want to consider a short term full protection on Michele Bachmann. A stready stream of red-link editors are trying to add in that she was or may have been born in Canada because of Obama's joke. Arzel (talk) 22:24, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Full protection is a bit extreme at this point, but I've watchlisted the article. Dabomb87 (talk) 03:27, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Hello

I don't know what this article was about: Dick Hogan, I didn't know which criteria to CSD it under. I hope you can handle this 'cuz its a gray are for me. mauchoeagle (c) 21:47, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

I've deleted it under speedy criterion G3 as vandalism or blatant hoax. Dabomb87 (talk) 21:48, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Kabul

Hi, can you pls look at Kabul again the person using different IP numbers now violated the 3rr.[1] I think the page should be protected now and the IP blocked. Thanks.--Hkrclu (talk) 21:01, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

I've protected the page. Dabomb87 (talk) 21:36, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

Maybe you could check the recent history on this. Gbeneb (talk · contribs) seems determined to impose his hostile version, adding content from the dubious source Nigerian Village Square and wiping out updates. The article, not particularly flattering, has attracted both whitewash and attacks like this one. I think the prior version is a reasonable compromise, but don't want to be part of an edit war. Thanks, Aymatth2 (talk) 02:02, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Unfortunately, I'm very busy right now and don't have time to look into this; however, I'm sure another admin will be able to help you at WP:RFPP. Regards, Dabomb87 (talk) 01:35, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
No problem. I am not sure what the right approach is, so have put an RFC on the talk page. Aymatth2 (talk) 12:12, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi geezer - twenty more? I am around so if or when you log on we can do a few- no hurry no worry, best. Off2riorob (talk) 21:07, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

I'm ready. Dabomb87 (talk) 21:07, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Perhaps there have been updates but please check these 21, thanks. Off2riorob (talk) 21:18, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
  • Thanks dude - if we can link up tomorrow to do some more that would be great - I am around on and off tomorrow - Off2riorob (talk) 23:01, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
    • Rob, I'm taking a kind of "random walk" through Special:StablePages and sorting things one way or the other. If there's anything particular you'd like me to look at, hit my talk page? Courcelles 23:04, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
      • Thanks - just carry on - I am happy to see some good movement on this , if there are some on my watchlist tomorrow I will try to assist with twenty or so but if its going well now I will happily let it roll, thanks - Off2riorob (talk) 23:11, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Requesting your attention

Hello Dabomb87, this message is a followup to a discussion I had with you on the 21st of April this year. I asked whether you could grant me rollback and reviewer rights. You asked that I wait a while since you wanted to see my later weeks' work. Well thanks for the advice, since then I have worked at improving my general work pattern, now I have over 215 articles on WP, today my first DYK appeared on the main page - 2011 New Patriotic Party Primaries and I have another 11 DYK coming up (5 have already been give the "READY TO GO" tag), I have talked more with other users such as Sadads and contribute to reviewing DYK, New Pages and WP:AfD. I know I am still learning but I believe I have improved well since your advice. Now I have over 8500 edits too and promptly respond to queries etc. I welcome newbies and show them the right way to go as I do so I come across some who clearly vandalise pages etc which I rollback and offer the right warning to such newbies. My humble plea is to consider me for rollback and reviewer rights. I would use it to the general good of Wikipedia. Thank you. CrossTemplejay talk--13:05, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Thank you so very much for granting me the rollback rights. I am so grateful. I promise to use it to good effect. Thank you. -- CrossTempleJay  talk 17:40, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

2011 NRL season results This page has been unnecessarily protected, the "vandalism" was mostly reviewers, being unfamiliar with the subject matter, reverting factual edits. All the factual edits reverted by "Adamrce" were eventually accepted, merely because another reviewer got there first before he could reject again. Similar cases occurred earlier. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.233.52.75 (talk) 03:40, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi there, I was wandering if you could unlock the I Am Woman (Jordin Sparks song) article because it's now notable because its charted. I've started a sandbox for the article here → User:Ozurbanmusic/Sandbox/9. Thanks, Ozurbanmusic (talk) 04:29, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7

Hi, thanks for unprotecting Lego Harry Potter: Years 5–7, but could you also unprotect Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 and/or just redirect it to the proper title? Thanks, Blake (Talk·Edits) 15:17, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Chicago Bulls

Hi. I see that you've protected the Barkley and Stojakovic articles. Good call. While you're around, would you consider protecting the Chicago Bulls page? It's been a long time since I've seen a positive IP edit. Zagalejo^^^ 21:32, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

Done. Let me know if you need anything else protected. Dabomb87 (talk) 22:06, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks a lot! Zagalejo^^^`

Hey, given there was only one bad edit in the three months this was on pending changes, I think indefinite semi-protection probably isn't needed here. Feel free to reject if you disagree - there's a lot of drama about the end of the trial. -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 17:40, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

Done. If an article was previously under indefinite semi-protection before the PC trial, I reinstated the indef semi without prejudice, which explains why articles such as Pakistan – Saudi Arabia relations were reprotected. Dabomb87 (talk) 21:20, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

About Kolkata Knight Riders Semi-Protection.

The User:Cenarox1232 and some other IP Addresses are probably adding in undesirable things in the article. You can check out this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Kolkata_Knight_Riders&diff=430619313&oldid=430521294.

Hi, I noticed you recently protected Snitch -- 184.71.68.214 seems to still not be getting the word on this one. Do you know what the best next action would be? Thanks, NapoliRoma (talk) 22:38, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

I've protected the page again, this time for a month. Dabomb87 (talk) 00:43, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Not that I am that concerned, but was it really necessary to semi-protect this page? Only 1 IP was removing the AFD tag and that IP editor has been blocked by Ed.--v/r - TP 01:27, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

The editor has targeted a series of articles on a dynamic IP address. Even though just one IP address edited that particular page, there's no guarantee that the disruption would have ended after the block. Dabomb87 (talk) 01:32, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
I honestly don't think a block of the editor or IP was entirely necessary either. I watched that whole scene play out. I am fairly certain Deepblue1 (talk · contribs) was editing in good faith and simply made a few bad choices. Talking could've helped. Tbnotch, while I have no doubt his good intentions, had been editing fairly quickly through those articles and I am sure Deepblue1 was doubtful of the carefulness of the edits/redirects which I suspect fed into his rash removals of the AFDs.--v/r - TP 01:38, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
Probably, but it is impossible to assume good faith after this or this. ۞ Tbhotch & (ↄ), Problems with my English? 01:43, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
Perhaps. I wish it could've been settled before getting to that point. I was going to say something to both of them earlier but I wasn't sure how to approach Tbhotch.--v/r - TP 01:46, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

I have amended the birthdate on this article which you have protected. It keeps getting changed back to 26th but references state 25th. I can find no sources for the 26th. Vrenator (talk) 09:18, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

While I've got your attention, can you take a look at this AFD? I almost did a NAC as a bad faith nomination, but I'm not completely sure that's within the scope of NAC. The editor blanked the page and says it's libel, but I dont see any libel in the article's history.--v/r - TP 01:40, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Your NAC looks fine to me. Dabomb87 (talk) 21:22, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Holiday

Hey dude. I'm off on holiday from tomorrow morning for two weeks. You probably already knew that but I just wanted to re-confirm. If you feel the need to over-rule any "opinion" I've given at any open FLC/FLRC, please do so. I'll be back... The Rambling Man (talk) 15:46, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know; I'll hold down the fort. Have fun! Dabomb87 (talk) 21:23, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Could you un-semi this article? You cited BLP violations as the reason, but this article no longer falls under the category of BLP. Thanks, (Zachary) 19:51, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

big problem

You semi-protected Winliveuser's userpage. There is only one problem: he is not autoconfirmed yet! Either remove the protection temporarily or give him confirmed status. Thanks! Crazymonkey1123 (Jacob) T or M/Sign mine 05:12, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, Courcelles has taken care of it. Dabomb87 (talk) 13:50, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

FYI

See here. Your protection was right, because who ever bothers to check to see if the user asking for their page to be semi'ed is autoconfirmed? I know I don't! Courcelles 05:42, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Ah, silly me! I saw that he had some 60 edits but forgot to check the age of his account. Thanks, Dabomb87 (talk) 13:50, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Why did you protect the Alan Shearer page? I provided a clear citation for my edit and I didn't see any mention of a consensus. Cityintra (talk) 22.22, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Several editors were vandalizing the article. Also, I don't see a "clear" citation in any of your edits. Dabomb87 (talk) 21:30, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Protections

Hi, I asked for semis on Jacmel and List of Haitians. You got one but actually protected the other. --NeilN talk to me 21:46, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the rollback privilege

I won't misuse it! Macspaunday (talk) 23:23, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I could not understand the reason behind declining protection for the article on Eden Gardens. Especially, I do feel strongly about your assertion - "both of you will get blocked if you continue to revert and edit war." Please see the history of article and the talk page. After the 2nd revert by the other editor, I have stopped reverting him or making any changes in the article. I have tried to reason with the concerned editor without any success in his talk page, my talk page and the article talk page. The root cause of the problem with this editor is his lack of understanding of even the most basic WP principles. As an administrator, I understand that, its your prerogative to either decline or accept the request, but at the same time I expected you to look a bit more deeply in to the issue. Please don't treat this as a complaint or something similar, I just thought about making my stance clear regarding the article and the related issues. In the present format, the entire article is full of totally wrong information. And the reason given by the other editor for reverting is, "I doubt whether it is true." How do you deal with this kind of unreasonable guys? Can you please suggest? Thanks. Shovon (talk) 16:56, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

I count four reverts: [2][3][4][5]. I would rather not fully protect an article where just two editors are going back and forth, as that is unfair to all the other users who wish to edit. It doesn't matter who is "wrong" or "right" in the dispute; the correct approach is to discuss things with the other editor on the talk page. Even if the current version is truly incorrect, Wikipedia will not fall apart (remember, there is no deadline). If the other editor does not want to engage in discussion with you, I would recommend asking for a third opinion. If he still does not work with you, you can report him to WP:ANI for Wikipedia:Tendentious editing. Let me know if you have other questions. Dabomb87 (talk) 17:50, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
