ArbCom candidate vote

[edit]

Hi - quick question. On my ArbCom candidate voting page, you voted "Support", but you listed "as per Secret" as your rationale. User:Secret actually opposed my candidacy. While I certainly appreciate your support, did you mean to oppose? Just making sure I'm not accepting any ill-gotten support... :) MastCell Talk 20:54, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, it wasn't an "Oppose"..I was being sarcastic cause his reason seemed too silly for me to squander over :) ...--Cometstyles 20:59, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah hah... sorry to bug you about it, but I just wanted to make sure it was support. I know it's not exactly the butterfly ballot, but stuff happens :) Oh, and thank you for your vote. I was a bit surprised at how much traction Secret's reasoning had, but ç'est la vie. MastCell Talk 21:06, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Really, really bad haiku from a new admin

Setting new lows in thank-you spam:

Thanks for your support -- strong no less! And thank you for all you do here, Meta, Simple and, especially, all our small wikis (I know from my cross-wiki spam work how abused they can get). If I can ever help you, especially with spam, please leave me a note here or on Meta.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Highlanders 1.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Highlanders 1.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Thanks for your work!

Dear Cometstyles,

Thank you for your participation in making List of Alpha Kappa Alpha sisters a featured list. This is the first featured list of a sorority on Wikipedia! Congrats!

Check your e-mail, please. I'd appreciate if you responded there, as well. Thanks. -- RG2 01:32, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RfA thanks

[edit]

Thank you for your support in my RfA. It was definitely a dramatic debate! I paid close attention to everything that was said, and, where possible, I will try to incorporate the (constructive) criticism towards being a better administrator. I'm taking things slowly for now, partially because it's the holiday season and there are plenty of off-wiki distractions. :) I'm also working my way through the Wikipedia:New admin school and double-checking the relevant policies, and will gradually phase into the use of the new tools. My main goals are to help out with various backlogs, but I also fully intend to keep on writing articles, as there are several more that I definitely want to get to WP:FA status! Thanks again, Elonka 07:03, 22 December 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Your comment on Kmweber's RfA !vote

[edit]

You should be aware that your comment on Kurt's oppose could easily be construed as a personal attack. Additionally, you might also like to know that not only does ArbCom not want to restrain Kurt - the same opinion is overwhelmingly expressed in both RfCs regarding his conduct. The community disagrees with you, and the vehemence of your comment is absolutely unwarranted. Avruchtalk 16:34, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RfA thanks

Dear Cometstyles, here is a little note to say thank you for your kind support on my request for adminship which succeeded with a final result of (72/19/6).

Now that I am a sysop, do not hesitate to contact me with any queries you have. I would be glad to help you along with the other group of kind and helpful administrators.

Thank you again and I look forward to editing alongside you in the future. — E talk 12:15, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings from the League of Copyeditors. Your name is listed on our members page, but we are unsure how many of the people listed there are still active contributors to the League's activities. If you are still interested in participating in the work of the League, please follow the instructions at the members page to add your name to the active members list. Once you have done that, you might want to familiarise yourself with the new requests system, which has replaced the old /proofreading subpage. As the old system is now deprecated, the main efforts of the League should be to clear the substantial backlog which still exists there.
The League's services are in as high demand as ever, as evinced by the increasing backlog on our requests pages, both old and new. While FA and GA reviewers regularly praise the League's contributions to reviewed articles, we remain perennially understaffed. Fulfilling requests to polish the prose of Wikipedia's highest-profile articles is a way that editors can make a very noticeable difference to the appearance of the encyclopedia. On behalf of the League, if you do consider yourself to have left, I hope you will consider rejoining; if you consider yourself inactive, I hope you will consider returning to respond to just one request per week, or as many as you can manage. Merry Christmas and happy editing, The League of Copyeditors.
