While I certainly appreciate input on my articles, I feel that a few of the format changes you made go against my own article convention that I have used on over a hundred different school articles. I don't mean this to be a tizzy, but I have spent countless hours of research and creation to make each article have some consistancy while trying to make each unique. If I am not following proper Wiki conventions, please let me know. It's enough for me to keep up with 250+ articles, monitoring for obvious vandalism and provide updates when needed. Whew!!!! Indyjrg1762 (talk) 10:12, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

  • You can take a look at the history of the page to see the changes made. Overall, the article was cleaned up and streamlined in compliance with the Manual of Style during new page patrolling. The sections required condensing. We don't create articles with multiple sections filled with minimal information. Article did not comply with capitalization guidelines, wikilinks, bare urls (link rot), or hyphenation. Citations were also incorrectly placed. We also do not disambiguate articles unnecessarily. For example, it is not appropriate to add the state after the name of the school, if there are no other articles by the same name. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact me. Best regards, Cind.amuse (Cindy) 10:31, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
    • Please note that I restored edits serving to bring the article into compliance with the Manual of Style. As editors, we work in a collaborative environment, working to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style makes articles harder to read. Again if you have questions, please feel free to contact me. Best regards, Cind.amuse (Cindy) 10:45, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Well, I am certainly not happy with these changes as it makes it hard for me to read the article. I have reworked dozens of articles other than my own so that would make sense. I feel now that I will have to spend several weeks to format each of my school article to fit the Manual of Style. I have done these articles for over three years and strive to make sure they are correct in style and tone. The disambiguation was a mistake on my part in typing. I have pretty serious OCD and everything I create has to be just right. If it is possible, a template showing what has to be done would be appreciated. For now I guess I am done with creating articles - at least 250+ will need revising. I apoligize if I cone across short but this really has me bothered more than any other change that has been made. My main goal is to have a page for each high school in Texas (where I reside) that can be updated when required. Indyjrg1762 (talk) 10:59, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Why it should be deleted? Because some of disambiguation's articles have not been written yet? I just didn't know about practise, if it is so. Please answer here.anonim.one14:54, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Lana Lane albums

Hi, Cindamuse. Just wanted to ask how to go about fixing up my Lana Lane contributions to meet the guidelines needed. I'd actually would like to fix it all up to meet the guidelines needed. P.S., I have been busy, haven't I? LOL!!!

    • OK. No problem. I'll get to work on it another time, as I've been using my parents computer. But I'll get around it soon, though. Thanks, Cindy. :)
      • Outside of general cleanup, I hesitate to jump in and edit while another editor is actively working on an article. So, just let me know if you need help. It's a lot of articles and I'm happy to jump in and add sources or whatever. We can also upload album covers to an infobox... whatever. Happy editing! Question from anonim.one #2

Tell me, what does one usually do with user talk, which contains from a) test content / spam b) draft of some new article? ♪ anonim.one12:33, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

  • Using the talk page in this manner honestly circumvents communication between editors. It is always best to draft new articles in a subpage, for example User:Anonim.one/Article name. That said, while it's not best practice, it's also not something to quibble over. Comments can still be made below any tests or article drafts. Eventually, editors will come to realize that all that extra stuff just hinders the communication process. Best regards, Cind.amuse (Cindy) 13:19, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
    • When I see smth like User talk:Bappain, may I replace it with welcoming or nominate for SCD? ♪ anonim.one13:30, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
      • We actually don't ever delete talk pages. The editor is brand new, so the appropriate action would simply be to welcome him and leave it at that. Use one of the welcome templates such as {{Welcomeg}} then just let him spend some time learning the community. If you want, you can also offer to help answer any questions he may have. Hope this helps. Best regards, Cind.amuse (Cindy) 14:03, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Sword and Sandal

Hi Cindamause. Awhile ago I warned of an edit war on the Sword and Sandal page as I have had an unregistered user eliminate a categorisation for the third time when I informed you of it; that person has just done a fourth. Can this person either be prevented from vandalism or coud we have a discussion on the talk page of the article? My impression when I see an unregistered user is that chances are he or she was a person banished from Wikipedia for repeated violations. Thank you.Foofbun (talk) 21:14, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

  • It's important to keep in mind that IP users are generally no different from registerered users. For whatever reason, they have simply chosen not to register. Many of our IP users are very prolific editors that add value to the encyclopedia overall. The edits made to this article do not indicate vandalism, but a mere content dispute. It is apparent that this other editor simply dislikes red links (as opposed to categories) and prefers to reorganize the content in a manner that you would rather not support. Of course, the proper response would be to attempt to engage in conversation with this editor to reach consensus. Try presenting your concerns on the talk page. Then comment on his personal talk page and let him know that you would like to work with him on the Sword and Sandal article to reach consensus, and direct him to the article's discussion page. On a personal note, it is very important that you begin using your preview option before saving each edit. This helps you find any errors you have made, reduces edit conflicts, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Also, remember to provide an edit summary for your edits. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me again. Best regards, Cind.amuse (Cindy) 22:18, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Widipedia page User talk: DickBoyd has been changed by Cindymuse

Thank you, Cindamuse, for the clarification regarding vandalizing and the links to help me learn wiki. I'll try the Condorcet page again with your suggestions. When I learn more, I may be getting back to you as an adopter. I didn't understand your contact method options. I hope this response to User talk:Cindamuse doesn't earn me another vandal mark. I am not trying to edit at this time. I am trying to get a definition of Condorcet method. As I understand, the method is a pairing of opponents in a contest with three or more entries. There is a dilemma in that there can be no clear winner if the winners are circular. Circular as in "Rock, Scissors, Paper". Rock beats scissors, scissors cuts paper and paper covers rock. In those cases of no Condorcet winner, perhaps the question should be worded to be more objective. Or another voting method suould be used. Is the two opponent race a special case of Condorcet? For example a proposed site for a new hospital serving three of more cities can be deadlocked. If the question is which city should have the hosptal, there may not be a winner under any voting scheme except pluraltiy. But if the question is which site results in the shortest average distance to all cities, then the question should be worded to "Is the population center of the four cities the best location for a new hospital?" Yes or no. Shortest average distance might be based on a population weighted choice. Or on travel time. The basic question of what voting method to use might best be asked and discussed in a different forum. How would I determine the correct forum? As Stalin said "It isn't who votes it is WHO counts the votes. I'm using Show preview to edit, but when I try show preview again, my recent editing is lost. --DickBoyd (talk) 00:27, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

  • Hey there! Please don't beat yourself up over the bot reverting your edit. The edit you made to the article, erasing the content to ask a question was a mere new editor mistake and certainly not vandalism. The bot (or robot) is not human, but an automated program to assist with what appears on the surface to be vandalism. Please don't allow it to keep you from jumping in and being bold. There is no vandal mark against you. You are also free to remove the bot warning from your talk page. Just go to google [1] and spend some time reading up on the Condorcet method or criterion. Also make sure to check books. I am not familiar with the Condorcet method or process, so would be of little help with the article content. Honestly, it kinda makes my head spin. LOL I do not work as an adopter, but support students through the education program, which takes up most of my time. That said, I can recommend an excellent editor that has been very successful and has developed an adoption program school that has been recognized as the best on Wikipedia. In all cases, I am more than willing to answer any questions you may have. If you receive any other warnings, please feel free to contact me for clarification. Per problems close paraphrase/copyvio with your GAN Douglas W. Owsley

Please see Talk:Douglas W. Owsley/GA1. There is an unacceptable amount of close paraphrase/ copyvio just in the lede alone. Because of your unwillingness to accept my judgment until you had involved three other editors who supported my view, I see that I can't possibly address the article's problems. Therefore, I've failed the article. You are free to renominate it. Best, MathewTownsend (talk) 01:04, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

You may want to consider your approach with both. Just the same, thanks for your work and attempt at reviewing the article. Best regards, Cind.amuse (Cindy) 03:08, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

Please note that User:Moonriddengirl defended my actions and said I did nothing wrong.[2]; he notes that you called in User:Dcoetzee and says that was a good idea, even though Dcoetzee disagreed with you. Moonriddengirl girl says:

":Cindy, I hope that you will not take this as too much of a criticism of your writing in general, even though I see he did think the content followed too closely. Wikipedia, as I'm sure you know, keeps on the conservative side of fair use for a number of reasons, including that our content may be reused commercially and may be reused in countries with stricter fair use or fair dealing laws than our own. :)"
"Matthew, you did nothing whatsoever wrong with dropping a note at my staff talk page." (I now understand that Moonriddengirl has two roles and two names, something I didn't know before, and once again I apologize to you for not understanding that before and for the fact that you became so upset about the close paraphrasing/copyvio issues with your writing.

Please don't delete the Talk:Douglas W. Owsley/GA1 from the article history because you don't like the results. That disruptive and undermines the GA review process. You don't own that talk page; it belongs to the community. Now that you understand that, I'm sure you won't do it again. You have been deleting all my comments from your talk page, which you are free to do. However, disrupting the GAN process is another issue. Best, MathewTownsend (talk) 11:22, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

  • Dude. Chill out. The review is still there in it's entirety. The thing is transcluded. We don't keep completed reviews on the talk page. They are linked at the top of the page. I was cleaning up the talk page following the completion of the review as standard procedure. Please make an effort to learn the process and stop with the continual accusations. Enough already. Thanks--79.31.158.37 (talk) 20:53, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

  • Hey there! Welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for noticing that those pages had the hyphen in the title. When we see things like that, we can actually "move" the incorrectly titled article to a correctly titled one. When you copied the article content and pasted it into the other article, it split the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history. I requested a deletion of the newly created articles so that we can go back and properly move the article, thereby preserving the history. In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both keeps the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else, or just contact me and I'll lend a hand. The Tea Leaf - Issue One - Recent news from the Teahouse

Hi! Welcome to the first edition of The Tea Leaf, the official newsletter of the Teahouse!

Spring has sprung! Stop by the Teahouse for a cup of tea under the cherry blossoms.
  • Metrics are out from week one. Week one showed that the need for Teahouse hosts to invite new editors to the Teahouse is urgent for this pilot period. It also showed that emailing new users invitations is a powerful tool, with new editors responding more to emails than to talk page templates. We also learned that the customized database reports created for the Teahouse have the highest return rate of participation by invitees. Check out the metrics here and see how you can help with inviting in our Invitation Guide.
  • A refreshed "Your hosts" page encourages experienced Wikipedians to learn about the Teahouse and participate. With community input, the Teahouse has updated the Your hosts page which details the host roles within the Teahouse pilot and the importance that hosts play in providing a friendly, special experience not always found on other welcome/help spaces on Wikipedia. It also explains how Teahouse hosts are important regarding metrics reporting during this pilot. Are you an experienced editor who wants to help out? Take a look at the new page today and start learning about the hosts tasks and how you can participate!
  • Introduce yourself and meet new guests at the Teahouse. Take the time to welcome and get to know the latest guests at the Teahouse. New & experienced editors to Wikipedia can add a brief infobox about themselves and get to know one another with direct links to userpages. Drop off some wikilove to these editors today, they'll surely be happy to feel the wikilove!

Is it appropriate to add an interwiki link to not the entire article, but to the section of this article? I. e. in en-wiki Rubeus Hagrid is an article; in ru-wiki Rubeus Hagrid is a redirect to the section of the common list. So may I add interwiki from en-wiki to the section of this list? ♪ anonim.one20:11, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Twinkle and Teahouse

Hello again!

I trust you are well. Since our last communication I have on several occasions attempted to follow your advice and activate Twinkle, but to no avail. It has now dawned on me that it won't work because I have Internet Explorer 8. I suppose that apart from buying a new computer – which I can't afford (mine's aged 12 years, but I have upgraded to XP02) – there is nothing I can do about it.

Today, I have discovered Teahouse. Looks great. Posted a query. All the best, Gareth Griffith-Jones (talk) 12:29, 24 March 2012 (UTC)

  • Hi! Is there a reason that you are unable to download and use Firefox? I also have Internet Explorer on my computer, but I opt to use Firefox and it works quite a bit better for me. Hope you are well! Best regards, Cindy(talk to me) 15:44, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
You are a star. I have successfully down-loaded Mozilla Firefox, and not only do I have Twinkle, I have a PC that I don't recognise. It is so fast. See my tonight's posting on Teahouse... it is all thanks to you, Cindy. With best wishes, Gareth Griffith-Jones (talk) 01:49, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
Postscript: I have just noticed that you have changed the style of your signature. I liked the previous one. Gareth Griffith-Jones (talk) 01:49, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
