License tagging for File:Shoulder patch DPaW Western Australia 2014.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Shoulder patch DPaW Western Australia 2014.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 03:05, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I forgot to indicate the license status of the image, but this image is mine and I'm okay to let anyone to use it. Unfortunately I cannot add any copyright... Should I wait to an administrator to delete it and reload it with a copyright? --Aussie Oc (talk) 03:26, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I added a box certifying the file is of my own work, let me know if it's enough, please. --Aussie Oc (talk) 04:54, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Aussie Oc, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Galleries

[edit]

I am not sure that you understand WP:ABOUT and WP:NOT - wikipedia articles are not places for galleries of uniform items. You might need to have a look at other articles of similar subjects to see what wikipedia is about. JarrahTree 12:18, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that, I am new to Wikipedia in English... Apparently there are discrepancies between what's allowed or not depending on the language's version. File source problem with File:Culvert construction Dombakup V-2015.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Culvert construction Dombakup V-2015.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Time for review

[edit]

OK, no one else has ventured into your magnum opus, of photos and uniform material at the DPAW article. It simply is not what WP:ABOUT.

If you are still editing, we need to negotiate a pull down of most of what you have put up. WP:GALLERY AND WP:NOT are what come to mind first.

I await your reply, so we can return the article to a better state. Please understand this is requested in WP:AGF JarrahTree 23:57, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

(Late) answer to ″Time for review"

[edit]

Sorry, for the late answer, I was in Waroona firefighting...

The beauty of Wikipedia is that once an article is posted, it is alive. That means that anyone can amend, modify, add and even vandalize or suppress it. That is called a contribution.

If your will is to suppress it, feel free, that will add a 10,001 contribution to your award and I certainly won't oppose it as I am busy in real life.

You can oppose the WP:ABOUT but I simply used the model available on Department of Fire and Emergency Services, I know it's being lazy but someone provided his magnum opus...

Non-free rationale for File:Queensland+Parks+and+Wildlife.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Queensland+Parks+and+Wildlife.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Porongurup National Park, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Department of Environment and Conservation. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Request for Help

[edit]

Greetings/Gidday Mr Aussie Oc,

Nice to meet you.

Could you kindly help me translate this text into the unique and outstanding Occitan language? (ie. your Marseilles version of Occitan) please.

"En effet, Dieu a tant aimé le monde qu'il a donné son Fils unique afin que quiconque croit en lui ne périsse pas mais ait la vie éternelle."
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

If you prefer to translate from English to Occitan, then that is perfectly fine to me.

Your help would be fully appreciated, Thank you. --DaveZ123 (talk) 09:39, 7 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Image without license

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:300 Melanotaenia australis Western rainbowfish Mitchell River NP VIII-2013.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

well done

[edit]

for your enthusiasm,

but unfortunately, lists of uniforms and vehicles is clearly not what WP:ABOUT - specially see WP:NOT.

It really needs some consideration of what what Encyclopedia entries entail. The encyclopedia is not an inventory.

Please have a look at similar articles for other states. They are not uniform lists, or vehicle lists.

For instance - a cleaner and clearer article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_South_Wales_Environment_Protection_Authority

JarrahTree 12:03, 1 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your - always helpful - remark... Should our model be National Park Service instead of an obscure NSW agency that is going anyway to change its name and function at the next election?

Aussie Oc (talk) 12:10, 1 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Facetiousness can sometimes work with the appropriate emojis, be very careful with WP:AGF, WP:NPA.

NPS - is not a normal article, it is too large and over-detailed, and long ago should have been broken up into smaller articles.

You have been at an advantage, few if any editors have challenged your editing, and the problem is that components between

Department_of_Parks_and_Wildlife_(Western_Australia)
Department_of_Biodiversity,_Conservation_and_Attractions_(Western_Australia).
Department_of_Environment_and_Conservation_(Western_Australia)
Department_of_Conservation_and_Land_Management_(Western_Australia)

The overlap and redundancy between these articles is quite large.

There is simply no need for uniform and vehicle lists/galleries - they are really in WP:NOT territory. cheers JarrahTree 12:25, 1 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

And as an encouragement - you should look at simplifying or editing the four articles to reduce the duplication between them - just a suggestion...JarrahTree 13:23, 1 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Challenging and suppressing is also a way to be creative by editing... I wont oppose your wisdom. Aussie Oc (talk) 04:00, 5 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your "contribution".
How do you deal with soldiers photos showing badges and grades? Any written authorisation from their government?
How do you deal with sportsmen photos showing club badges and sport's brands?
Civil servant's uniforms are meant to show that mark who can be recognised by members of the public. Besides, it is not a digital logo reproduced here, only a photo on my own uniforms. Most of them are already not anymore in use and have been replaced anyway. Go on with your creativity: suppress the other's work. Aussie Oc (talk) 04:26, 4 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I realise this is going back a few years but I wonder if you could have a look at File:29 Mount Michaud Lesueur NP XI-2013.jpeg on commons. You described the file as being of Mount Michaud but I'm not quite sure it is. Could it be of Mount Lesueur instead? The reason I'm saying this is the walking track to the left on the mountain, which Mount Lesueur has but, as far as I can remember and see in my own pictures from a recent visit, Mount Michaud does not have.
