Wiki is not encyclopedia

[edit]

I read your mention in the article about Karunanidhi on his place of birth. Please note that wiki is just a notepad which can be used by both brilliant and stupids.

Most of the time wiki goes into the hands of stupids and hence the articles go mad. Use wiki just for reading and never for reference or for any scinetific values. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.92.53.37 (talk) 15:34, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Telugu wikipedia questions

[edit]

Hello, i amd the author of the Lech Walesa article in Telugu wikipedia. I have some questions

first: what is the template namespace for telugu wikipedia? and how can i create and edit some templates that would make transitioning/translating articles from wikipedia english easier? (for example, IPA/pronunciation templates do not carry over to telugu wikipedia)

nm, figured it out :-)

second: there are alternate spellings for proper nouns, so is it appropriate for me to make redirects? (you deleted my lech walesa redirect, i just want to know what the administrators policies are so as to avoid this in the future. )

thanks! --Gñāna (talk) 09:25, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New templates for telugu wikipedia

[edit]

I request your feedback on this template I made. --Gñāna (talk) 11:57, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work. Keep it up. —రవిచంద్ర (talk) 16:02, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Nataraja Ramakrishna has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Suchitra Chandrabose requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Control copyright icon Hello రవిచంద్ర. All or some of your addition(s) to Mayabazar (2006 film) has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 15:23, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Diannaa, Thanks for pointing this out. I have not copy pasted the content from any website, But I read the movie review from a website and I used the same structure and terminology but I have not copy pasted. That's why it might be flagged as a copy righted content. I am re-writing completely using my own words.—Ravichandra (talk) 17:00, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Mayabazar

[edit]

It is better to move it to Maya Bazaar as they are of different languages and it is bazaar not bazar.PhysicsScientist (talk) 14:02, 11 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

PhysicsScientist, The original old Telugu movie is titled Mayabazar. Hence I named this article in this way. There is no standard way of spellings for Indian names in English. Lot of people query with the spelling Mayabazar and not Maya Bazaar. We can create a redirection link from Maya Bazaar if you like. --Ravichandra (talk) 14:07, 11 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I created redirections from Maya Bazar (2006 film) and Maya Bazaar (2006 film). Bazaar is a Persian word.PhysicsScientist (talk) 00:36, 12 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Bangaru Pichika

[edit]

I created the article earlier with the name Bangaaru Pichika. Redirect anyone to another one.PhysicsScientist (talk) 12:26, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

PhysicsScientist Sorry, I didn't notice it. Normally I thoroughly search for an article before creating a new one. Somehow I could not find this one. I saw a red link in a couple of other articles. So I created a new one. If you are okay, I want to merge contents of your article into my article because I think people tend to use Bangaru Pichika more than Bangaaru Pichika. Let me know if you are fine with that.Ravichandra (talk) 12:32, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. Don't leave any content.PhysicsScientist (talk) 13:54, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Searching an article in Category:Films directed by (name of the director) or Category:Film scores by (name of the music director) or the director's template would be better. Category:Telugu-language films is also useful. Believe it or not, I wanted to create Ramakrishna, Mamagaru and Vinodam earlier.PhysicsScientist (talk) 12:25, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Telugu typing

[edit]

Which software are you using for Telugu typing?PhysicsScientist (talk) 03:02, 26 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

PhysicsScientist I use a variety of tools based on the project I contribute. If it is Telugu wikipedia, We have Transliteration tool enabled, you can just switch your keyboard to Telugu and start typing. You can practice typing in Lekhini or Quillpad, epalaka, and many more web based tools. I prefer installing native keyboard on my OS and use Inscript for typing. If you use Firefox, there is an extension called Indic Input Extension. I have spent a lot of time exploring these tools. Just send me a message if you need any help with Computers and Telugu. I will be glad to help you. Also after learning to type in Telugu, please contribute to Telugu wikipedia also. :-)--Ravichandra (talk) 13:45, 26 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:GarikipatiNarasimhaRao.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:GarikipatiNarasimhaRao.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 05:25, 16 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
