Matua-smritokotha [1][2][3] is a religious discourse of Namasudra(Namassej) community.Sri Sri Harichand Thakur is the prophet of this Hindu sect.Their main organisation is Matua Mahasangha, presently the Head-office being in the State of West Bengal of Indian Union. They have their original parental organisation in Orakandi in Bangladesh. The State Govt. of West Bengal has also allotted the organisation a land for establishment of One Research Organisation.

The prophet summed up His revelations in Twelve Commandments and in several rhymes in Bengali language .A discourse named Sri Sri Harililamrita[4][5][6][7] is also written in Bengali but no English translation is available.

His followers searched the essence of His preachings in the Mythologies of Indian sub-continent and also thoroughly studied the religious discourses. They penned down all these in seven parts, named as Smritokotha[8][9] and all these writings together with the Twelve Commandments and the Rhymes in simple language , are called Matua-smritokotha.[10]

The first part of the discourse is the creation theory which includes the revelation of their community name 'Namassej'. The other parts contain the description of rituals and the theology. It is an elaboration of the twelve commandments of the Prophet Harichand.[11]
