Edward James Kendrick (December 17, 1939 – October 5, 1992), known professionally as Eddie Kendricks, was an American singer-songwriter. Known for his distinctive falsetto vocal style, he was a member of the Motown singing group the Temptations from 1960 to 1971, being the lead vocalist on songs like "The Way You Do the Things You Do", "Get Ready", and "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)". During the 1970s, Kendricks recorded several hits of his own, including the number-one singles "Keep On Truckin'" and "Boogie Down."

In 1982, he was ordered to pay an additional $5,000 after a judge threatened to sentence him to 60 days in jail for failing to meet his child support obligations.[1]
