Why Use Wikipedia as Learning Management Software?

The first semester of the Public Policy Initiative was dispersed as a package of a goal and good intentions from Wikimedia Outreach but little guidance on their conceived execution accompanied the parcel. It could be argued that the malleable status of the project was freeing, nonetheless Professors faced an open question of how exactly to organise students to work on Public Policy pages. Problems existed in assimilating students into the distinctive Wikipedia culture: with it’s

proprietary mark-up language,
bureaucratic protocols, and
philosophic pillars.

Of course, Professors had their standard routes on manifesting the task: require the learning of Wiki-culture under the penalty of your grade. My position didn’t have that luxury.
