Things to know about me

This contributor to Wikipedia is male.

checkY I'm a kind and gentle but no-nonsense kind of person, and my words on talk pages and in edit summaries should be read with that in mind. Just because you're angry doesn't mean I am!

checkY I love Wikipedia editing but my time is limited. I do what I can and leave the rest for others.

checkY I am an unapologetically bold editor. But I am also calculated and meticulous. If I do something major, you can presume that I've already given it a lot of thought and have considered many alternatives.

checkY In most contexts I'm more apt to contribute a small number of significant edits than a large number of insignificant ones.

checkY I am here to make friends, and have no desire to foster conflict, so talk with me respectfully if my edits upset you.

checkY I am ruthlessly dispassionate, so you can't assume much about me from my edits. I sometimes argue for positions I don't believe in. I sometimes write content I disagree with. I sometimes work on articles for topics I don't like. Engage rationally with what I say, not with the set of opinions you think I hold.

checkY I believe that difference of conclusion almost always results from difference of premise. If we disagree, I will try to work with you to find out why we disagree. This only works, however, if you're willing to engage with this process and do the same.

checkY I recognize that rules are tools that are relative to the context for which they were designed. That being said, if the rule does apply, I expect it to be followed.

checkY I'm an experienced editor, but there's always more to learn. Don't presume my ignorance, but do kindly let me know if you believe I'm not keeping a Wikipedia policy or guideline in mind.

checkY This entire list is descriptive, not prescriptive. It exists for your sake, not mine. If you cite this list back at me because you think I'm not "adhering" to it, you've missed the whole point.

Stats

(Wikipedia has been around for 23 years and I've been an editor for 19 of them.
I've taken some hiatuses during that time but have always been observing even if not actively editing!
The percentage above is automatically calculated and will grow over time, because math.)
