The Wimbledon Wheelchair ladies' singles championship is an annual tennis event that is being held since 2016 as part of the Wimbledon tournament. The tournament is played on outdoor grass courts[a] at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) in the Wimbledon suburb of London, United Kingdom.[2]
History
[edit]All wheelchair events at Wimbledon have taken place in the Open era. Since it started in 2016 only eight players took part each year.
Wimbledon has historically been played in the last week of June and the first week of July (though changed to the first two weeks of July in 2017), and is chronologically the third of the four Grand Slam tournaments of the tennis season.
Diede de Groot is the only player to win this event without the loss of a set. She done this in 2017, 2018, 2021 and 2022.
