A tag has been placed on For the Love of the Game (album) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. {{help}}

How do I put the crest on this page? I want it in the table on the right..just to add a little color to the page.

Unfortunately the image you are trying to add is copyrighted and has been deleted (see this link for the deleting admin's reason). If you wish to upload a fair-use image again, please ensure it has a rationale for it's usage. I hope this helps; if you have any further questions feel free to add "{{helpme}}" to this page and ask, or inquire on my talk page :-) Pumpmeup 09:42, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

{{help}} I understand you guys have certain rules. I'm just trying to dress up my scools page by having a picture on there. Is there a way for me to put the crest on that page legally?

There sure is, but there's often mountains of annoying red tape in the way. If you like, you could give me the url of the image you are trying to upload and I'll do it for you, then you can take a look at what I did differently and the need for rationales, etc. Pumpmeup 09:55, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

{{help}} Yes, that would be great. I just want the crest of the school to go in that table where all the information is on the right side of the page. https://camcom.ngu.edu/_layouts/images/ngu%20logo.jpg Let me know if that works or not.

I've uploaded said image, and it can be found at: Image:Ngu logo.jpg. I've put it in the infobox in North Greenville University. Take a look at the image and it's fair use tags. They need to be in place. If you have any further questions feel free to ask :-) Pumpmeup 10:19, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
No worries, it's great to know that someone appreciates it :-D. I hope you like the place and decide to stick around. Here's a few handy links in case you need them.

Good edits

I think you've done a great job adding content to the North Greenville University article. Just ensure that you respect copyright (ensure all text contributions are your own), and you're doing a fine job of improving Wikipedia. Happy editing Pumpmeup 11:07, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! I'm just trying to get the hang of things here. I need to work on making sure all the texts are my own though. -Brian Alexander (talk) 11:08, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

re:Thanks

Thanks for helping me out with the image. I can't figure out the whole uploading thing because the upload file page is confusing. I just want to use a picture I own on my laptop. Why is it so hard to put them on here? I mean I own the picture. No copywrite infringement there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bfalexander (talkcontribs)

On the upload page, click the link that says "It is entirely my own work". Under licensing, choose a license: they're all pretty similar. I suggest just going with "own work, copyleft". No need to worry about the summary section. Click browse for source filename, give it an appropriate local name (i.e., if the source name is 472389233923_1982347PN0_L.jpg, try calling it something like Bfalexander_photo.jpg instead). And voila, you should be in the clear. Not half as hard as it sounds, either. :) The Evil Spartan (talk) 22:02, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Duplicate images uploaded

Thanks for uploading Image:Dormroombrian.JPG. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Brianprofile.JPG. The copy called Image:Brianprofile.JPG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot (talk) 22:15, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on December '07, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because December '07 is a test page.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting December '07, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Archiving your page

Hi Bfalexander. You recently created a page incorrectly, apparently in an attempt to archive your talk page. I would suggest you ask at the help desk for help in archiving if you wish to do this; but for now, it might be best if you just sit tight and learn the system a bit better longer before trying to archive. Images on my userpage

{{help}} Can somebody help me with images. I've been successful in uploading them, but every time I put the image on the page the link is all that shows up. The images i'm using are my own images that I have uploaded to wikipedia. Can somebody help me?

Try the tutorial. If that doesn't help, feel free to post a new {{help}} here or ask at the help desk. I would invite you to ask me if you need more help, but I'm going to bed about now, as I am drunk. Algebraist 03:18, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
I will take a look at that. Hope you have a great night..get over the hangover -Brian Alexander (talk) 03:20, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Hello. Concerning your contribution, Image:TBR.jpg, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material without the permission of the author. As a copyright violation, Image:TBR.jpg appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Image:TBR.jpg has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message. For text material, please consider rewriting the content and citing the source, provided that it is credible.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on [[Talk:Image:TBR.jpg]].

However, for text content, you may want to consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you, and please feel free to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Royalbroil 05:39, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Images

Please stop adding promotional images to CCM artists. I am a member of WP:CCM too and an administrator. You are wasting your and my time. There's a better way. You can go to http://www.flickr.com and upload images from there to Wikimedia Commons. First you have to MAKE SURE that they are licensed Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike. If not, you can leave a message for the uploader asking them to consider using Creative Commons. I get about a 50% success rate. You have to promise to be honest with them and do what is right. It is no big deal if Wikipedia has an image of an artist. Royalbroil 05:54, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

DON'T KEEP DELETING CONTENT FROM YOUR TALK PAGE!!!!

I assumed that you were very new to WP and nobody had welcomed you yet. It is considered normal practice to leave content on your talk page and archive it periodically. If a link to the archive is shown on the page, other users can check what has gone before, and, more to the point, they will see that you are not a newbie here! Also, please note that it is considered bad practice to delete warning messages, although they may be archived after a reasonable period.

EdJogg (talk) 08:44, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi Brian. I have replied on my talk page. I have also simplified your archive link slightly -- just a little tip for you... :o)
BTW, if you now wish to archive this topic, feel free to! (The presence of the archive box shows that you are not a complete newbie.)
Happy editing... EdJogg (talk) 09:04, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Photos for Christian articles

You may have noticed that a lot of Christian music articles don't have photographs. I see you are interested in such things. If you would have the time, the technical know-how, and the desire to do so, there are sometimes free pictures of Christian artists online. Please understand that all photographs must be free (just how Wikipedia does things); but I will tell you how to search for them:

Go to the advanced search on flickr.com, make sure the Only search within Creative Commons-licensed photos, Find content to use commercially and Find content to modify, adapt, or build upon boxes are checked, and type in the name of the band/singer you're looking for. I've already found some, but I don't have time to upload them all. I uploaded OC Supertones and a lot of others; I think Sandi Patty had a better picture, and Casting Crowns had a lousy one.

The exact license, cc-by-2.0 (Attribution), or cc-by-sa-2.0 (Attribution Sharealike), should be on the lower-right corner of the page. Make sure to include the source.

One example (I was surprised to find) is Pillar: http://flickr.com/photos/laffy4k/4779747/ (you'd probably want to crop out the picture of the other people). This would cc-by-2.0, as the license states under Additional Information. Relient K has some excellent pictures too: http://flickr.com/search/?l=commderiv&q=relient+k&m=text.

Hope this helps. The Evil Spartan (talk) 19:20, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 20:43, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
