The Settlers (Swedish: Nybyggarna, 1956) is a novel by Swedish writer Vilhelm Moberg. It is the third and the longest part of his four novels in the series The Emigrants.

Plot

The book tells about the Swedish immigrants' new life in America where most of the Nilsson party and their friends have started to feel at home.

It also follows Robert Nilsson's and his friend Arvid's journey on the California Trail. They went west to join the Gold Rush.
