"Odaraiids"

[edit]

Perhaps the hymenocarines referred to as "odaraiids" (e.g. Pakucaris, Balhuticaris, Jugatacaris) can be included in their own division? Iezer (talk) 18:43, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

According to "A Burgess Shale mandibulate arthropod with a pygidium: a case of convergent evolution" (closed access) " So far no analysis has found a monophyletic odaraiid group including Odaraia." Hymenocarine taxonomy is a complete mess and highly inconsistent between analyses (it isn't even clear that the group as a whole or in part is even monophyletic). Even for subgroups like Waptiidae their validity is questionable, so I don't think adding more subgroups to the pile is a good idea, given the lack of consensus for them.
