  • Brünnhilde, and the Met, are as spectacular as a soprano can get. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:39, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
I'm afraid that I doubt that most of our readers would be aware that performing at the Met is a big deal in classical music. It would basically be a hook like "DYK that Rock Band performed at the Radio City Music Hall?" or "DYK that singer Jane Doe performed a concert at the Hollywood Bowl?", hooks that wouldn't be that accessible to non-music fans. Suggesting a hook that's more accessible in this case. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 10:54, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
They could imagine that we mention it because it is ("a big deal"). They could also not care, and we wouldn't care. How about reaching those interestd in a topic? - I won't criticise your choice of hook in your nomination, but would not say about my subject only by whom she was inspired. I want to say in what she excels. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:31, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
I did my qpq now. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:17, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
  • Looking through the article, there seem to be other possible facts that could be used for a DYK. Would a hook about her originally wishing to pursue singing in a choir until being told to do solo instead work as a hook? Or how about how she did 14 roles in three years? Or perhaps a hook based on some of the reviews given about her? I also note that several paragraphs in the article lack footnotes, so in any case this can't be approved until that is resolved. Shaking head. On the Main page now Carlos Feller, who recently died. The hook names where he started, how long his career was, and what great house he sang which signature role. DYK what the Germans want to say about the same? The he wanted to become a dentist and moved on to be a wanted opera singer. It hurts (but I keep silent there). Why talk about what these people would have liked to do when we can say what they did?? The two roles were key roles for Vincing, and the theatres say that she didn't do it in some provincial "nest". - I am super busy with Mendelssohn's birthday, so more patience is needed. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:33, 3 February 2019 (UTC)
Ok, looked. The (German) article is written by a fan who knows every little detail. I can't find where that one got it. - I could write a completely new article from the solid sources, - or could just say not worth it, life is too short. LouisAlain, what do you think? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:34, 3 February 2019 (UTC)
I tend to be an inclusionist but I've stopped translating the parts where the person's notice details are of no importance at all (name of wife or hubby, children, which school h/s attended as a child, where they are currently living (if alive of course), list of countries where he/she performed or went to (all artists of some reputation go to Japan or New York for example). The En. version is already three times shorter than the German page. How many English only readers want to know more about Carlos Feller? Life is too short indeed. LouisAlain (talk) 21:04, 3 February 2019 (UTC)
Ok, close then and leave the (probably true) details where they are. The German article about Feller, written after the English, is also much more detailed than English. - Life is short. I thanked the author of TFA Mendelssohn and heard that his father died. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:49, 3 February 2019 (UTC)
I said: Close then. We would loose too much content, - a DYK is not worth it. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:38, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
