Academic Pathways Section Out of Date

[edit]

See http://www.westlake.school.nz/curriculum/curriculum-review-2015/ for changes to WBHS curriculum. Also, is it classified as controversy for the pathway change? Baring in mind, that the 'two of the top three' scholars that the school talks about, failed to mention that they were both from the CIE pathway, and that the number of NZQA scholarship increase also potentially coincided with the introduction of CIE into the school. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.22.101.99 (talk) 14:14, 28 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Just giving a justification for my edits to the Music and Performing Arts section. It was full of WP:PEACOCK, and only cited the school's official website. While that's a valid source, I'm sure, for objective information, it's not a good source for information about the merits of the music and performing arts programmes. --Dom 10:38, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If the source is from the official PR, it is hard to deny their validity as any inaccuracies would be charged directly to their Public Relations officer which would be even worse reputation for them. Also, music achievement sources can include external competition websites that report results like the NZCF or SCL. 121.32.13.43 (talk) 16:21, 1 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Move to Boys (from Boys')

[edit]

About six months ago the official website for the school gave the apostrophe version of the name. It no longer does [1]. In fact, I'm inclined to think that was a mistake - the school was always "boys" (as in, a school for boys) not "boys'" (a school owned by boys). The page gave Westlake Girls High School as Westlake Girls' High School, which is certainly incorrect, even if WBHS did briefly use the apostrophe. So, I've moved the page. --Dom 11:05, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at this nine years later, there's a real mix on their website: some mentions of their name with, and some without the apostrophe. They can't quite make up their mind. I suggest we restore the grammatically correct form that uses the apostrophe. Any adverse thoughts? Schwede66 10:05, 8 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. The New Zealand Ministry of Education uses the apostrophe. See school #37 in the directory available here: http://www.educationcounts.govt.nz/__data/assets/excel_doc/0004/62572/Directory-School-current.xls Meters (talk) 18:25, 8 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The Ministry also includes an apostrophe in the name of Westlake Girls High School, but that school seems to be consistent in not using one on their website. Anyone want to contact WBHS and ask which they prefer?-gadfium 20:03, 8 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
