EP or album?

Quick question, is Tyla is a self-titled EP that is to be included in Tyla album? I am asking because coming to think of it, "On and On", "Truth or Dare", and "Butterflies" are not singles but they are songs. By defintion an EP and album, appear to be different, subjects. As per [5], furthermore only the Water, remix is included in the EP, not the original version of the song which presumably will be included in, the album. That just looks like one of those digital EPs that's cobbled together by labels for streaming services to collect all the songs in one place so that the artist gets more streams. That being said, I am really not a Tyla fan (I only created the article for "Water" because it was a popular charting song, I'm not interested in her broadly), so I don't know, but regardless of the existence of the EP, this article is for the full-length album that's coming out. If you think it's notable enough then that's up to you, but personally I don't see the point as its coverage is just going to be subsumed by the album and all five songs on the digital EP are included on the eventual album. (Btw, I have pings turned off, so tagging me doesn't mean I get anything.) As an aside, at this early stage it looks like Tyla may be going the way of other TikTok hits. One big hit but the public don't seem to care about the follow-ups (e.g. "Truth or Dare" and "On and On" haven't charted on anything but component or genre charts), and the album just ends up being a blip on the radar. By all means, I don't care if I'm proven wrong, but that's why I wouldn't be worried about starting an article for the EP. I don't even know why you bothered with "On and On" tbh. Singles or songs

Hello Abcdehe, in addition to what I've addressed here, would you please state the reason to why you removed "(styled in all caps)" and mainly why you think "On and On", "Truth or Dare", and "Butterflies" are singles where as they are clearly labeled as songs on their articles (and infoboxes)? You started off with a nonsensical edit of removing cited content and said it was a mistake when it was addressed and threatened to take me to Ani. I'd hate for this to become an edit over something so simple. Until consensus is reached, please do not mark the songs are singles Thank you. dxneo (talk) 20:19, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for your message. "Styled in all caps" was removed per MOS:TITLECAPS. And as I've already mentioned multiple times, "On and On", "Truth or Dare" and "Butterflies" were added as promotional singles by a different user prior to me editing the article. When my edits were made, I never removed the word promotional from the format, making your narrative of me thinking that those songs are singles false. Please view the page's history and find the user who added those songs as promotional singles, and chase them up on that instead.
Secondly, "removing cited content" is not what I was doing in my edit, if you are talking about my edits on Tyla (album). I removed one source by mistake and that was readded once I had realised my wrongdoing. But there was no content attached to that source which was removed, so no removal actually occured. Record label(s)

As cited with reliable sources in the article, most sources and streaming platforms state that the album was released through Fax Records and Epic Records. However, the UK R&B Albums Chart number ones states that the labels are Since 93/RCA, and so does this aggregate score. Could it be that the album was released to some regions through RCA and some through Epic? Consensus would be helpful and will be used under the release history section. dxneo (talk) 16:02, 30 March 2024 (UTC)

@Dxneo: I honestly don’t think so. Fax/Epic is her main record deal as they represent her here in her home country as well as most other parts of the world. Looking at Cardi B's Invasion of Privacy, it was released by Atlantic Records but distributed through Warner Music Japan in Japan, see the release history, I think the same should apply here as well. Should radio date or album date be used for Art?

The song was never released though along with the album and it is not even in the release history either. The song was simply given a music video but it is not a single, not until it impacts radio. 96.43.189.203 (talk) 17:36, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
Looking at the release history, it was sent to radio in Italy by Sony Music on 12 April 2024. Honestly, I never thought the song was a single when it was released on 22 March with the album, when I created the article it was formatted as song not single then Cybertrip changed it and I don't know why, I then asked him here why he thought "Art" was a single, see his reply. dxneo (talk) 18:53, 8 April 2024 (UTC)

On first glance I think it's missing something like a "Music and lyrics" section, and probably needs more info in the "Background and release" and "Commercial performance" sections. Feel free to use the juicy info from the interviews I've linked above, it'll be very useful. Also just to point out a small technical issue: the citations in the "Commercial performance" section are WP:DUPREFs of those in the "Charts" section. Although I do not really think the sources on this talk really helps that, I'm willing to reuse the sources cited in the Critical reception section instead as I think they are more detailed, thoughts on that? I have used references from the Charts section twice because they are template-generated and therefore cannot be reused. Another thing, do I have use audio files also? @Dxneo: While album reviews are partial and opinionated, they can be used for specific details such as genres and instruments used (i.e. NME says "Jump" is a dancehall song). The auto-generated references can and must be reused, using the "refname=" parameter (I've done this edit to show you how). Audio files don't need to be discussed but they usually must be used to support a claim or idea (e.g. this Doja sample supports the paragraph about the album having "disco" and "funk"). —cybertrip👽 ( 💬 • 📝) 19:34, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

'Jump' for next single?

It's highly likely as that has a bunch of famous artists like Skillibeng and Gunna so maybe? It's also been quite popular and getting some love so we'll just have to wait and see. This0k (talk) 19:42, 2 April 2024 (UTC)

This0k, I am actually working on "Jump" since it charted and it is getting more streams by the day, but it's a song that never headlined anything or at least I haven't seen such sources. Excessive audio samples

Hi Dxneo, just a suggestion because I'd really like to see you get this article to GA status :) The Non-free content guideline advises against "an excessive number of short audio clips in a single article" let alone any audio clips at all (unless "omission would be detrimental to that understanding"). Release label(s)

Cybertrip, I think you were wrong here when you said, and I quote "Epic Records is a subsidiary of Sony Music; and this edit gives the false impression that the album was released on streaming platforms everywhere except South Africa." First of all, yes Epic is a subsidiary of Sony but it does not take any credit for Epic's work. Sony distributes music for Epic, and Fax is a management company (with respect to Tyla). I have gone through multiple similar articles such as Invasion of Privacy, only the LP was released in Japan by Warner Music Italy, does it give false impression that the album was released on streaming platforms everywhere except Italy? The release history says it was released in various countries/regions and it does not specify which regions were excluded. Therefore, my point is, Tyla LP and vinyl were released in South Africa by Sony Music South Africa and track 13 was replaced by "Water (Marshmello remix)" on the vynil version. Hi Dxneo. The Japan row in Invasion of Privacy implies that the CD there came out a few days later than other countries, but the album was still available to stream in Japan when it came out initially. The label part doesn't really matter in that specific case since its merely pointing out the difference in dates. If you go forward with your edit I suggest that that you say "CD • digital download • streaming • vinyl", since all those methods were available in South Africa on 22 March. —cybertrip👽 ( 💬 • 📝) 07:10, 7 June 2024 (UTC)

Breakroom Africa is most certainly reliable as it's information usually checks out. I've never used DancehallMag before, but it has been used over 250 times on en-wiki per dancehallmag.com HTTPS links HTTP links. Content on the journalistdj matches that of slikouronlife which has been used over 165 times on en-wiki slikouronlife.co.za HTTPS links HTTP links slikouronlife has been a news source for music for as long as I can remember, hosted by Slikour of Skwatta Kamp who sometimes interviews the musicians. Track listing

According to Sony Music, "To Last" was replaced with "Water (Marshmello remix)" on the vynil version of the album. However, according to eBay's Vinyl Turquoise Blue With Signed Insert, "No. 1" was replaced. I wasn’t blocked for 6 months lol, it was an accidental flag that they subsequently undid. I edited while going to Starbucks and it noticed both IPs for the use. I’m literally the one who told you to come to my talk page this isn’t a “gotcha”, I’m an open book ask me what you want.
