Bishop or not bishop

[edit]

Hello friends,
Just a question after reading this article while working on the French Methodist missions. It's not clear to me from reading the text why the page should be entitled "Thomas Coke(bishop)". It looks as if he tried his best to become the first Methodist bishop but didn't succeed. If that is so, then an apter title could be "Thomas Coke(Methodist)"; if not, an improvement of the Coke's biography could clarifiy the when and how of his nomination as a bishop.
