Some resources about the history of Sheho

[edit]

Three books that could be helpful in fleshing out this article:

1. "They came from many lands; a history of Foam Lake & area." 1985

2. "A century of history : Sheho, Tuffnell, Foam Lake, Leslie, West Bend, Fishing Lake Reserve" by Elaine Virgin and Gail Shurgot. 1974.

3. "Sheho; Treasured Memories 1905 - 2005" from 2005.

There were two train lines that had Sheho as a terminus: Sheho-Yorkton (Created 1902-1903), and Sheho-Lanigan.

Trivia:

  • On April 19, 1996 Resident Delmer Struss won the Super 7 lottery for almost 17 million dollars, which was the largest individual lottery win in Canada up to that point in time. There was a CBC article and a Toronto Star article about it.
  • Sheho native Rod Merrit was inducted into the Yorkton Sports Hall of Fame (and the Sask provincial Sports hall of fame?) for "his involvement in Broomball". April 2010 Source.
