Someone simply renamed the Emily's Army page as the SWMRS page. This is incorrect and not accurate. The lineups are different. Emily's Army had a different bass player than SWMRS, and in fact, stylistically, there is a noticeable sound difference as well. This page should be devoted to the new SWMRS project, but the majority of the text on it should be put on a seperate Emily's Army page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.64.125.234 (talk) 15:38, 10 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]

Apparently we're having some issues on Sources here. Walter Görlitz (talk) seems to think that none of the sources are valid? And some need more then just primary sources. I believe the sources are fine. It's not like every source has to be from a Wide Known or popular Nise like AP, Kerrang or MTV. Teddy2Gloves(talk)(contribs) 06:07, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Here are the removed sources with my reasoning for removal
So I should restore smudailycampus. Walter Görlitz (talk) 06:21, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You are actually Incorrect on some of these. First off, you Innerspeaker not reliable because it doesn't list it's staff on their website? Thats a little absurd. Sec ond, I looked at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 24#Are allmusic.com, punkbands.com, www.roomthirteen.com etc. reliable sources for asserting notability of rock bands? and all it said was that those sources cannot be used to determine notability, no where did it say you cannot use them as sources. Third of all, just because the article is short like in the Restless Press one does not mean it cannot be used as a source. Teddy2Gloves(talk)(contribs) 20:03, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
By all means, take your case to WP:RSN. Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:38, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Indie rock

[edit]

The two references are not sufficiently clear and per WP:GWAR, we need clear descriptions of genres. We should also have a "style" section that discusses each of the genres. granted, with a new album coming, their sound might be changing. With a large label behind them, they will likely get a number of reviews as well, so that would be good fodder for sourcing genres. Walter Görlitz (talk) 14:48, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

music.mxdwn.com/2018/09/16/reviews/show-reviews/kaaboo-festival-2018-day-two-featuring-billy-idol-n-e-r-d-and-imagine-dragons/ refers to them as "SWMRS, an indie-rock band from Oakland", Alternative Press call their sound "indie-garage" in www.altpress.com/news/swmrs-april-in-houston-new-album/, www.bakersfield.com/archives/green-day-link-doesn-t-hurt-swmrs-but-they-don/article_d322d752-3827-520e-be2c-fec3531e1b5c.html says they have a connection making them stand out "in the crowded field of indie acts". www.allmusic.com/artist/swmrs-mn0003480916/biography says they have elements of indie rock, www.eastbayexpress.com/oakland/the-fresh-punk-of-swmrs says they draw heavily from indie. There are many citations both saying they play indie, and saying they have elements of indie, the first three I provided are clear descriptors and they are all sources I have provided in the past. Their connection to indie rock is very often cited (in clear descriptions), I'm not sure why you continue to revert me. Issan Sumisu (talk) 15:17, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
mxdwn.com does refer to them as such, but it's one source. Alt press says indie act, but it's not clear what that means. AllMusic writes "melodic sense akin to indie rock". Not clear. East Bay doesn't resolve for me. But we need a few to state "indie rock" not just "indie" or vague phrases that include the term "indie". So, no, they're not clear and no, I don't see that genre supported (heck, I don't see most of the genres in the infobox supported, which is why there should be a style section) but we should wait for additional commentators to discus. Raise it at a project to raise awareness. Walter Görlitz (talk) 17:17, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
