Talk:Radio broadcasting in Australia

G'day Guys, I have created this page from content originally in History of broadcasting in Australia as the article was getting way too big (for which I was mostly responsible). The intention is to mirror Television broadcasting in Australia, though that article has minimal historical content. I hope what I have done meets with general approval, the proposal to split was posted many months ago and met with no opposition. All comments welcome.--Samuel.dellit (talk) 00:51, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

FM Start Date

[edit]

Hi Samuel, thanks for creating this. I agree with everything except the start date. I received an AM/FM transistor in Christmas 1974 from my wife and was able to receive FM broadcasts immediately (2MBS-FM being the only station => https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/110792742?searchTerm=FM%20radio%20begins). As I was a rocker from wayback I soon tired of this, so I attached a long piece of wire to the aerial and to a metal post outside and found I could receive no community stations, only the sound for TV Station WIN-4 Wollongong (in about the middle of the FM band, if I recall). After a while the novelty of this too disappeared and I went back to 2SM. --johnb_roberts (talk) 10:00, 10 November 2021 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 175.37.155.131 (talk) [reply]
