Past military use
[edit]Articles on Wikipedia and personal webpages found on Google suggest that this airport was built as the Port Isabel Auxiliary Naval Air Station and was later the site of the Port Isabel Air Force Station, but I have not found a published source verifying this. (As I write this, the Wikipedia article on the AFS has been flagged as lacking sources.) If anyone has such information, please add it; I would like for the "History" section to be more detailed.
