OR: "widely considered among the greatest comedy films ever made"

[edit]

I see nothing in the cited reference that supports the claim that the film is widely considered (by whom?) to be among the greatest comedy films ever made. Also uses weasel words ("widely considered") imho. I propose this is Original Research and should be removed -- David Spalding (  ) 22:34, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Davidbspalding, instead of tagging this article, I suggest that you take a look at Groundhog Day (film)#Critical reassessment and select one or two of the dozens of references there that support the content that I added. To anyone familar with the massive numbers of reliable sources that have covered this film for decades, your assertion that this is "original research" or uses "weasel words" strikes me as ludicrous. Please reconsider. Cullen328 (talk) 01:20, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:NOTSOURCE other WP articles cannot be used as reliable sources. You are welcome to add citations to your addition, though I would remove the "widely regarded" clause, as that is specifically cited at WP:AWT as an example of phrases NOT TO USE. You can alter your addition to something like "is listed on several 'best of' lists as an all-time favorite" (followed by citations). You can of course reuse citations from the other page if they support your addition.
I've looked at the GroundHog Day reviews page and there are several citations (Empire, for example) that could be used here. 💡
It's not up to other editors to cite work to support YOUR statement. The tags are to alert others to correct the addition or remove it. I posted to your talk page as a courtesy so you could update it, don't be so offended.
