way more info needs to be added with references if someone could help me get themit would be appreciated dont have much time rite nowBinarymoron (talk) 13:20, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't think a list of "reputed professors" of the institute is required, nor is a detailed description of the dorm facilities. It would warrant a mention if there were a world-renowned professor (such as a Nobel or other major prize winner), or if the dorm facilities had some unique feature that set them apart from any normal school. The picture that is slapped bang in the middle of the page could be relegated to a side note or a list of pictures at the bottom. I had created the original page a few years ago, being an alumnus, and sad to see that the school didn't have a page, but looks like later users have just started filling in advertising material :-) When I have some more time, I'll come back and make editorial changes. For other users who may want to edit, take a look at other tech school pages. Phloyd (talk) 04:18, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I completely agree with you, I haven't come around to making any changes yet( only few minor ones relating to the lead) I'm just starting to edit it or hope to in the future :) {busy with college) :D Binarymoron (talk) 17:22, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am working on the article, making some changes and adding citations. Added the original motto in sanskrit (moved it later to Manipal University) and updated the number of students and faculty with citations. --Aakash602 (talk) 02:59, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Mit logo.gif

[edit]

Image:Mit logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

References are not there

[edit]

The article lists a lot of facts without a single reference, its just inviting someone to delete the whole article and leave a skeleton structure behind, those maintaining the page are requested to cite. --Freedom321 (talk) 22:25, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No citations in notable alumni

[edit]

There are no citations in "notable alumni" section. Would it be a good idea to erase the names which cannot be verified? --Aakash602 (talk) 15:24, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

yes correct, also the article is being used as a medium for protest --sarvajna (talk) 07:58, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand why any negative news about this college is being removed .The whole point of a dynamic open source encyclopedia is to update and reflect recent events . The whole page looks like a MIT advertisement brochure .Looks like MIT manipal has hired someone to censor any fact that shows it in a bad light. Regarding the "fiction/opinion" , I can't help you if you dont understand the ground situation at the college . Also regarding reliable references , national newspapers don't publish news about incidents in a college .So we've got to make do with what we've got .— Preceding unsigned comment added by 183.82.129.127 (talkcontribs) 14:32, 14 March 2012‎
It is also a very blatant copyvio. --Muhandes (talk) 16:04, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I want to add that I totally agree with both RichardMills65 and sarvajna. Even if this was not a blatant copyright violation, it is opinionated and using Wikipedia for protest. Wikipedia should not be used for either promotion or protest. If you think "The whole page looks like a MIT advertisement brochure", fix it. No, the point of Wikipedia is not to "update and reflect recent events", that's what newspapers are for. Wikipedia collects reliably sourced information in a neutral and encyclopedic manner. --Muhandes (talk) 16:11, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Couple of questions

[edit]

1. Do we absolutely need to have all the student orgs listed in that table? (Not all of them are even listed plus each one sounds like a nauseating advert)

2. Do we need to have each and every thing such as Symbiot and Dhol Baje mentioned? They look like adverst again and the actual MIT techfest and Revels get utterly sidelined.

3. In fact do we need those events mentioned in the first place? Can we add all o them to a plain paragraph? they are not that integral to the college or the article, but I might be wrong and you might find them necessary.

4. Is there anyone who regularly updates this? We've had guest lectures from Nobel lauereates and 'MSAP' isnt MSAP any more but has been shifted back into MU aegis and is now FAPD (cue giggles).

5. I'd like permission or some sort of a go-ahead with a clan up with stuff that isn't important [eg Dhol Baje and Symbiot and all the rest] and some expansion on what is [ie TechTatva and Revels and the concerts and SC and EdBd and anything else that others - or you - find important.] Neeya The Great (talk) 17:54, 17 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
