FA concerns

[edit]

This old FA does not currently meet the featured article criteria. There is significant uncited text throughout, and issues with the references not supporting all of the text. For instance, Smith compiled his worst ERA of the decade—although he saved more than 30 games for the first time in his career. In Game 2 of the NL Championship Series, Smith recorded two outs for the save to give Chicago a 2–0 lead in the best-of-five series against the San Diego Padres, putting them one win away from the World Series is cited to the box score of Game 2 of the NLCS. It only actually supports the second of the two sentences it is supporting. Significant work is needed to get this old FA back up to the criteria, and a featured article review may be necessary. @Hog Farm: It looks like this article received some substantial rewrite in the last five months. Have your concerns been addressed properly? Renerpho (talk) 20:48, 17 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Early life?

[edit]

This biographical article skips from its subject's birthplace (which isn't in the body of the article) to his time in high school. There is nothing about his parents, family, etc. If this isn't known, the article should say so, but I can hardly imagine a living American, particularly one of this stature, has nothing about his early life on record somewhere. Not including it seems like laziness. Piledhigheranddeeper (talk) 00:01, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
