[edit]

Why did Cornwall County Council give approval to the mobile phone and short wave radio companies to put aerials on top of the stack? They look hideous, and contrary to the standards expected of a World Heritage site, which Kit Hill is. Does anyone have any news clippings from when planning permission was granted by the Council? 1944

[edit]

Removed "The site at kit hill was used in december 1944 for small amounts of nuclear research, but the site was abandoned in February, as it was deemed unsuitable." as it should not be added without a reliable reference.--Felix Folio Secundus (talk) 09:51, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Viking attack on Calstock

[edit]

I removed this line: "The Danish fleet is thought to have arrived at Plymouth Sound in 838 and this is still commemorated in the annual Viking parade in Calstock, where locals dressed as Vikings row up the river to Danescombe, thought to be one of the sites of the landing of the Danish boats.[citation needed]"

This entry is about Kit Hill, not Calstock. If the Viking battle did take place on the Tamar (this has been disputed) then they fought on Hingston Down, not Kit Hill. I don't think the Viking parade is still going (unless they mean the gig racing, which is not usually fancy dress), and the name of Danescombe I believe is now thought to have other origins, and in any case is not on Kit Hill either.
