Meaning of Horní

[edit]

The adjective 'Horní' does not mean 'mining' as in the text. It means 'upper' as a check with a translation site will prove. The opposite is 'Dolní' which means 'lower'. Many places in CZ have these prefixes. The page linked to does not say that 'horní' means 'mining'. 86.154.42.80 (talk) 11:23, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The word "horní" had two meanings in old Czech, and this is the second of them. In modern Czech, the word "hornické" is used. It agrees with what the source says (I corrected the url). The proof is also that there is and never has been any Dolní Slavkov. Horní Město has the same etymology. FromCzech (talk) 11:36, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
