I can't remember off the top of my head, but I believe there is a specific annalistic or bardic reference to Donnell Og being 18 years old when he acceded to the kingship of Tyrconnell. Maybe one of Mac Con Midhe's poems cited in this very article. At any event, Donnell Og definitely acceded in 1258 C.E., Donnell Mor had died in 1241 C.E., and Mac Con Midhe quite specifically states that Donnell Og was born posthumously with respect to his father. So maybe 18th year rather than 18 years old per se. Pretty good evidence of an extremely tight range for his birth year, anyhow. JackMason1 (talk) 08:49, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
