Hampshire?

[edit]

Is Churt in Hampshire or Surrey? Because from where I'm looking on the map it comes under Hampshire? Jaguar (talk) 10:50, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jaguar, The OS map shows that the crossroads at the centre of Churt are in Surrey: http://getamap.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/getamap/frames.htm?mapAction=gaz&gazName=g&gazString=SU856381 The county boundary appears to be stream / river just to the west (more obvious if you click the Zoom out option button to get the 1:50,000 Scale, which shows the boundary line). The map on the Wikipedia page is slightly misleading as it shows the red dot just on the Hants side. Nunquam Dormio (talk) 11:55, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I will see if I can place the red dot a little to the right. Jaguar (talk) 16:41, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

History

[edit]

As Frensham Great Pond is beyond the boundary, should it not be in another article? I think it more likely that it was damned, rather than dug, but I do not know. The 10m referred to could easily be confused with miles rather than metres; a classic time to use yards and a conversion! SovalValtos (talk) 19:52, 24 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Local Government

[edit]

Can anyone understand what the sentence starting "On a more local...." is supposed to mean? SovalValtos (talk) 21:08, 24 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
