2006 or 2007 film?

[edit]

Is the title of this article, "Bordertown (2006 film)", correct? The article doesn't note any release dates in 2006. It appears that the Feb 2007 showing at the Berlin Film Festival was its premiere, unless the article isn't accurate. Should the article be moved to "Bordertown (2007 film)"?--Ataricodfish 02:00, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article is correct, it's just that IMDb has it as 2006. I believe that's why someone listed it as such originally. I agree. I do that ASAP. Thanks for pointing that out! ;-) Luigibob 06:51, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Already released

[edit]

According to [1] the film is already released in several European countries (at least in DVD). I have seen it myself on DVD in Norway. So it seems like the 28th September release date is too late. 152.94.19.123 16:18, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification

[edit]

This sentence does not make sense to me:

"The picture was first presented at the Berlin International Film Festival on February 15, 2007 in competition where it opened to mixed reactions from the attending crowd, some feeling anger after seeing a scene where rape was involved cried."

Could the person who wrote it please make it more clear? Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.2.175.134 (talk) 12:00, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's the most annoying film I've seen lately

[edit]

Authors used the tragedy in Juarez to sell their political views in a ridiculously demagogic way. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.131.137.50 (talk) 20:13, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

True Story

[edit]

The homicide rate is high in Juarez overall. There is no reason to believe that the homicides of women are all part of a serial killing. I've tried to removed the text that suggests this.--Jack Upland (talk) 05:47, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

That isn't quite true. The overall homicide rate is high, you are right in that, but there is reason to believe that a number of these murders are serial murders. None of the reports say that they are all the work of one serial killer but even the Mexican government thought and thinks that serial murder plays a part. Abdul Latif Sharif, a known serial killer, was convicted of some of these murders and accused of ordering more from jail. Despite his arrest, the serial-styled murders continue. For over 2 decades women in Juarez and other border towns have been targeted by murderers. Many of the women share physical characteristics. Young, slender, long, dark hair, large eyes, etc. Many are targeted from the same locations. Many of this group were tied in the same way, raped, tortured, mutilated, killed, and their bodies were dumped in specific places. There's no doubt at all serial murder is happening, or that the law enforcement in Mexico isn't doing nearly enough to stop it.

Film release year wrong

[edit]

Both IMDb and Rottentomatoes give 2007 as release year. Title should be fixed I think. Aquatic Ambiance (talk) 14:28, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have moved it from Bordertown (2006 film) to Bordertown (2007 film) and posted to Wikipedia:Help desk#Film release year wrong (permanent link). PrimeHunter (talk) 19:38, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
