Acres to hectares instead of square metres

[edit]

I noticed that the article contained the following paragraph.

The manor was sold by Thomas and Mary Mankham to Joan Elcode, a widow, in a deed dated Easter 1572. The estate then contained 7 messuages, one cottage, 10 tofts, 1 water mill, 10 gardens, 14 orchards, 300 acres (1,214,057 m2) of land, 120 acres (485,623 m2) of meadow, 160 acres (647,497 m2) of pasture, 20 acres (80,937 m2) of wood, 120 acres (485,623 m2) of furze and 4s annual rent and 1 lb of pepper.[1]

I think it would be clearer to readers if the conversion was made to hectares. It would then read like this if the acres were converted to the nearest hectare:

The manor was sold by Thomas and Mary Mankham to Joan Elcode, a widow, in a deed dated Easter 1572. The estate then contained 7 messuages, one cottage, 10 tofts, 1 water mill, 10 gardens, 14 orchards, 300 acres (151 hectares) of land, 120 acres (49 ha) of meadow, 160 acres (65 ha) of pasture, 20 acres (8 ha) of wood, 120 acres (49 ha) of furze and 4s annual rent and 1 lb of pepper.[2]

Notice that in the first instance, the word "hectare" is written out in full. This is for the sake of any reader who is not familiar with the abbreviation "ha". Are there any comments, suggestions or concerns? Michael Glass (talk) 12:23, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
