Racial polarization

[edit]

Does anyone think that this must be mentioned in this section as well?

Alabama whites voted for McCain by a 90-10 margin, Alabama blacks by a margin of 98-2 (that is not a misprint or typo btw). rock8591 04:21, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

I'd think it would be worth mentioning; can you provide a reliable source for those numbers? Qqqqqq (talk) 07:04, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Scratch that - there is a problem with those numbers (PM me if you're interested in details or whatnot). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rock8591 (talkcontribs) 04:18, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My Changes

[edit]

O.K. So I've been editing the articles on the election in each state, and I came to this article and did something a bit different. In the other articles, normally I've been adding completely new information to stubs; here there already was a lot of info, although I did fill out the analysis of the election itself.

The point is that I made some stylistic changes. The first two paragraphs of the "Analysis" section were, I felt, cluttered with too much extraneous detail. I took out some of that, such as the description of Democratic control of Alabama's State Senate. In addition, some of the sentences were very complex and convuluted to my eye. I tried simplifying it (such as the three-line long spiel on how Obama did better than Kerry).

The reason I'm saying this is that I don't want anybody to feel offended that some of their work was deleted and press the "Undo" button.

Also, I added the exit poll information of racial polarization. I think its very relevant; moreover, we can put the "problem with those numbers" as a note on the references section. Which is what I think is done in academica. Hadoren (talk) 23:50, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
