"Everybody Out!" is a punk rock band created in 2007 by Chris Sweeney[1] "Sweeney Todd" (the DEAD PETS)[2] and featured Rick Barton (Ex Dropkick murphys guitarist). Despite Sweeney Todd being from the UK, the band is primarily based in Boston, Massachusetts. Sweeney contacted Rick while living in Boston, and the duo wrote most of the songs in one session in Sweeney's apartment[3] in Jamaica Plain, Boston, Massachusetts. Sweeney named the band after the popular phrase in the UK used by union leaders when walking into a factory— if a deal could not be made for the workers, they would shout "EVERYBODY OUT[4]! strike action" The duo financed the release of 2 EPs before signing to Taang! Records. Their self-titled debut LP was released on April 8, 2008. Various friends and musicians contributed to the record. The band's lineups included Barton and Sweeney, along with Bill Close (from Gang Green and the Freeze), Mike McMillen (lead guitar), and Kevin Garvin (drums) from On Broken Wings. The songs were recorded with the intention of vocals to be done when Sweeney returned to the US, but instead Barton decided to release the recordings with the rough vocals that can be heard on the album.[5] Sweeney designed all the artwork for the band and made some "quick & dirty" music videos with friends from Leeds, Yorkshire, UK, and old the Dead Pets band member Tim Millington, aka Stash, as the "Jack the Lad" character.[6] The band also recorded a song for the Red Sox'sRoyal Rooters” documentary,[7] which was featured on the "Struggle and Strife" EP.[3]
