The channel aired from March 30, 1996[4], with the content being a general channel, named VTV-MMDS channel. The channel's content is mainly re-exploiting programs from VTV1, VTV2, VTV3, along with some films from foreign television channels narrated in Vietnamese. On April 25, 1999[5], the channel changed its content to the feature film channel MMDS, broadcasting Vietnamese and foreign films. In 2000, when Vietnam Cable Television (VCTV) was established, MMDS channel was called VCTV. On July 1, 2003[6], the feature film channel VCTV changed its content to the general entertainment channel VCTV, and changed its name to VCTV1 on October 15, 2004. From July 10, 2010, the VCTV1 channel was Fansipan Media Company (part of Le Media media group) cooperated with VCTV to upgrade content and changed its name to Fansipan TV.[7] Since February 2013, VCTV1 channel has been leased and upgraded in content by D.I.D TV Joint Stock Company (now renamed Vie Channel Joint Stock Company). On April 21, 2013, VCTV1 channel changed its name to Entertainment TV.[8] The TV Entertainment Channel officially aired on May 7, 2013.[9] On November 1, 2015, the channel was broadcast in HD format. On January 30, 2019, VTVCab 1 channel changed its name from Entertainment TV to Vie Entertainment. From June 15, 2023 to December 22, 2023, the name Vie Entertainment channel will be temporarily removed from the identity of VTVcab 1 channel to comply with the operation of the Press Law.
