Srinivas Botlaguduru, (born on August 1, 1964) is an IPS officer belonging to Cadre & Batch: AGMUT – 1990, who began his career in the Indian Police Service He is notably the first IPS officer from the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir cadre to lead a police force after its integration into the Union Territory cadre[1].

Early life & education

Botlaguduru born on August 1, 1964, in the village of Botlaguduru in Prakasam District, Andhra Pradesh, He is an alumnus of the Department of History, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad (UoH).[1]  He completed his post-graduation at UoH from 1994 to 1996 and earned his Ph.D. between 1996 and 2000. He cleared the UPSC examination and was appointed to the Jammu and Kashmir Cadre in 1990.

Renowned for his role in reviving intelligence operations in the Kashmir Valley following the 2010 unrest, he is regarded as one of the most decorated and respected officers before retirement. He had taken charge at the Puducherry Police headquarters[2] [3], overseeing the districts of Karaikal and Puducherry,[3] which include the regions of Mahe and Yanam—enclaves in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, respectively.
