Pat Shingleton, Patrick Shingleton, Chief Forecaster, Weather, WBRZ, Game Show Host, Talk Show Host, Philanthropy, Community Service, Congressional Record, Irish Parliament, St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Coats for Kids, Prescription Medicine, St. Vincent de Paul Pat Shingleton embraced television broadcasting for 45 years, initially as a weathercaster with KQTV-TV, St. Joseph Missouri, WAFB-TV, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, WPXI-TV, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and WBRZ-TV, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Originally from Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, Pat attended Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. [1] Since his return to Baton Rouge as WBRZ’s Chief Forecaster, Pat has advanced many responsibilities.[2] He is the President of Pat Shingleton Productions, LLC. [3] and formerly produced, distributed, and syndicated various television productions, such as a locally produced game show, We Play Baton Rouge, The Fifth Quarter for LSU Football Coaches, Jerry Stovall and Bill Arnsparger, and a talk show, Hotline After Dark. [4] Since 1992, Pat has tracked the location of Santa Claus on Christmas Eve with other weathercasters from varied television stations in the United States in his syndicated project, “Santa Tracks”® [5] Pat Shingleton’s “Weather News,” a daily weather column, appeared in The Advocate from 1999 through 2014. Memberships and Organizations

Pat has held memberships in various professional organizations, Associate Membership in the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association, and the National Association of Television Program Executives. He has been recognized by the Louisiana Associated Press [7] for his weather presentations. First Place, Breaking Weather category, 2011. Best Weathercast, 1991, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2009. In 2006, Pat received a Lifetime Achievement A from the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters. [8] Pat has incubated numerous community advancements. He is President of the Board of Directors for Pat’s Coats for Kids, Inc. [9] He developed the concept for the Baton Rouge Chapter of St. Vincent de Paul Community Pharmacy, entitled, “Fill-A-Prescription-For-The-Needy.” [10] He originated, in 1986, and currently coordinates “The Wearin’ of the Green, St. Patrick’s Day Parade” [11] in Baton Rouge in 1986 under the auspices of The Parade Group, LLC. Pat has been instrumental in raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for worthwhile causes such as Our Lady of the Lake Foundation, [12] Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church’s “Campaign for Tomorrow,” [13] The Diocese of Baton Rouge’s “Preparing for the New Millennium” [14] and Catholic High School of Baton Rouge’s “Second Century of Excellence.” [15]

He hosted the Children’s Miracle Network’s telecast, benefiting Our Lady of the Lake’s Children’s Hospital. [16] He was recognized in Congress by Senator John Kennedy, posted in The Congressional Record, on February 2, 2021. [17] In advancing the Baton Rouge Irish Parade and related activities, the 24th Chair of the Senate of Ireland, Senator Mark Daly recognized Pat and his accomplishments on May 24, 2024. [18] On August 2, 2024, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry appointed him to the Louisiana-Ireland Trade Commission. [19]
